I don't know how many of you watched the talk that continued after the fight this past weekend but I remember Buncey talking about the ppv and him stating that, due to people complaining that he was endorsing it, he clarified the matter a bit. Now it was really late but I remember him saying that it isn't really worthy of a ppv slot but thats sadly how boxing works these days. It's all well and good being an armchair critic, it's even better to make a stand and not pay for the event. But to have a go at a guy who puts food on his table because of his opinions is really sad. I suggest that instead of having a go at the one boxing writer who is willing to come to this forum and accept feedback from us, the fans, You should go get a job writing/talking about boxing. I don't always agree with everything Steve says but to make such a big deal out of this is a nonsense.
So anyway, Long story short:- Bunce told us to buy a pile of shite PPV and his reasons? because 'its a good bill' - bollox bunce - you know Khan is being fed another hand picked Bum instead of fighting a John Murray or Jon Thaxton type opponent. We can all write 20 paragraphs and quote fook knows who in it, but the bottom line is this :- He championed the worst PPV in British PPV history and his excuse is balls we all know it.
I don't think it was much more than a "its 15 quid, you may as well get it" type of thing. Very good and fair post Terry.
buncey is taking time out & advising we can make an impact with a letter - anyone in here wanna take this up or are we just gonna *****???
By all means write letters guys but I believe the most effective way to register our disapproval is simply by NOT buying the PPV. Actions speak louder than words!
Yeah Steve, it's designated to take up 5% of their time with the other 95% made up of football, footballl and more football. Yourself, Ron Lewis and Colin Hart are the last of dying breed. Newspaper journalists that actually know about the sport. Can you say that about Pat Sheehan and Tom Hopkinson? Only last week I was sat with Matthew Hatton and Bobby Rimmer, talking about how little coverage boxing gets in the papers these days. And even when it does get some coverage it's often dreadful. Take the Valuev vs Ruiz report in The Sun today. It states that Valuev RETAINED his world title. Surely they should have known that it was a vacant title. I remember Tom Hopkinson in The People spelling Wladimir Klitschko's first name Vladimir. We should savour Bunce while he's around because, unlike other sports writers, he's doing his best to raise the profile of the sport.
elle the prob is ppl will pay for this ppv if we like it or not & warren & sky will be laughing at us .. the media are clueless at this point that so many ppl are pissed off with this cheek does it hurt to pull together get a letter lets see if it makes a page - is that worth it - if were 46 & we get a page how many ppl buy a paper
I am sure the PC-brigade will worship the ground you walk on These days, a white male has to be shagging an overweight black geezer to avoid being branded a racist or predjudiced individual
