Oh, Arnie had a great voice. But Bozas softy spoken and well-mannered 'English' tones make him an easy fighter to root for IMO. Nice chap.
To both posts. Don't worry IB, Addie got me to concede that Donaire would have a good chance of beating Zarate the other week, so don't fall for his 'woe is me' shtick, this kid's slick :deal
Boxed Ears won't be happy you've deemed another fighter class enough to carry the Sugar moniker. Controversial. In all seriousness, we can't criticise Donaire too much considering his opponent was covering up for the majority of the 12 rounds. He could have still showed some variety and mixed it up downstairs though. He threw a few body shots that landed, but he failed to sustain that good work. Puzzling...
I made the comparison that Zarate wouldve been a good fighter to break Narvaez down ;-) Not Donaires fault, but did show a glimpse of fallibility in the man. I'm not jumping on him though, I do say that even quality offensive fighters can look off against consistently negative opposition. And Narvaez was just that. I was surprised, especially considering He can't punch for ****, that Nonito couldn't create openings for himself or break the Argie down.
Donaire did go down in my estimation if only by a small margin. I have been quick to label the man as "dyanmic" and "explosive", two words I used on multiple occasions when we discussed the Zarate fantasy match-up the other week. We saw none of that the other night, and he effectively had a heavy bag standing in front of him after the first few rounds. As I say, incredibly puzzling. Donaire even suggested at the end of the fight that he didn't care if he got tagged. If that was true than why didn't he take a more offensive and care-free approach?
Boxnation has tv time to fill in, so instead of recent past shows why not have a old time type show, with a knowledgable hoster, make a great addition to a station thats going good so far.
