I blame the media for hyping the fight as a credible match-up. This fight should never have happened and many of us called that day one and told anyone who would listen.

Steve Bunce saw this fight as an opportunity to bring publicity to British boxing but it has to be said his shameless backing of the fight has blown up in his face.

I am listening to fans calling into BBC 5 Live at the moment and every single one of them is gutted at shelling out money for this debacle.

The fight has left such a bad taste in the mouth of die hard and casual fans that they will be reluctant to put there hand in their pocket to pay to watch a British fighter on PPV again.

This is one occasion when the journalists who were trying to help boxing have actually damaged it.

Casual fans are saying they will never buy PPV again.

I wasn't gutted by that, i've enjoyed the circus, and i had a good night, fight wasn't the best by a long way, but still i had a bit of fun with it, and i'di can't say that about most of the other heavyweight title fights in recent years.

Buncey would defend a Fraudley-Haye rematch.

his ass-kissing/biased'ness/patriotism is just too obvious.

anyone with a bit of nouse would have known not to shell out £15 for this fight, it's the media's job to sell fights, that's what keeps them in employment, don't shoot the messengers, if people are dumb enough to pay for **** then it's their bad.

I think Haye has damaged the reputation of boxing badly tonight. He admitted in his post fight interview that he carried Audley for 3 rounds because he had a ****ing bet on it. That is disgraceful. A PPV event. That is shocking.

I think the general consensus from the casual punter is that they feel scammed, in the long-term it's probably done more harm than good.

Agree it has damaged boxing but it can't be a bad thing if casual fans are saying they will never buy a PPV again. If they stick to that and learn not to buy mismatches just because Sky hype them up then that will only lead to less mismatches and less PPVs.

Bunce invested a lot in Harrison.....they go back a long way - but even he would not call for a rematch. The two trade mags backed the Haye-Harrison fight as an interesting fight - so dont lay exclusively into Bunce.

It's not fair to criticise Buncey too much for hyping this fight. Nearly every boxing source in Britain hyped this as an exciting fight. It clearly wasn't and was never going to be but you can't really blame the journalists that were happy to cover the fight as it gave them more column inches than before. However they should've known better and rubbished this fight as soon as it was first mentioned then we wouldn't have had to witness this pile of crap that was dealt out as a 'world' heavyweight championship fight.

Sometime you have to remind yourself that Bunce is actually not a promoter.

Look Bunce bangs the drum for boxing and he definitely thought he was bringing boxing to the masses. The thing is maybe he should have looked a bit more closely at what he was hyping up before he led casual boxing fans on a merry dance that ended with them shelling out £15 for what was a sham.

Being paid as expert commentators Bunce and the other journalists have a responsibility to their readership.

This time the scribes and broadcasters of boxing let the sport down.

    Maybe journalists should remember that:

if it looks like a duck,
    walks like a duck
and quacks like a duck.............then it is a duck.
