Bunce supports EVERY fight when it involves a British fighter

Did he even have a show this week?

If we try and look at it from a non boxing fans perspective.

    A) Were you sold a pup?

    or

    B) is David Haye MORE credible because he smashed the hell out of a guy he scared the living daylights out of who we were told was a legitimate challenger. Whose name you knew?

I am not sure the answer is going to be A) for 100% of cases. Its not the blockbuster extravaganza that casual fans might have hoped for, certainly. But Buncey cannot be held responsible for Audley not doing what he said he was going to do, what he possibly could have done had he decided to become a conscientious objector.

There is no point being smart about it. How many casual fans/ non-fans went round a mates for this, had a few beers and stayed up for Pacman and Margarito? Half went home. some more fell asleep but a few stayed up and witnessed a master at work. Some of those will have been won over. All because Audley told us what he could do.

    So was it worth it?

Lets just remember that fights like this are hyped all the time.

Is any journalist going to come out and say "Haye's in a different league, Harrison has never been a decent pro fighter, Audley wont last five minutes"?
"Tune in for a great night of British boxing!"

Jim Watt made a great comment to Ian Darke when Darkey asked if the public had been made to believe this would be competitive....

"if you believe that Ian, its your fault!"

And that's why this fight was a con. Everyone knows the general public in this country don't really know too much about boxing. So when nearly every media source in the country says that 'The Heavyweight Championship of the World' is being fought for by two British guys who really hate each other and together make a fascinating matchup, these casuals will become interested.

That's why about 90% of the casual fans in this country thought Ricky Hatton would beat "this Mayweather guy".

Boxing's going downhill because of terrible nights like this. And journalists in this country are STILL defending this joke of a fight! Either that or coming out AFTERWARDS and saying "we always knews it would be a pointless fight".

Wonder if Buncey's looking forward to Stieglitz v Ornelias any more now?

we knew it would be over in 2 3 or 4 rounds.

buncey is there to make it interesting, he's not gonna say 'i know it dont happen much a all brit heavyweight title fight but dont bother watching it cos it'll be ****!' is he now?

get over it, and bring on the klitschko's!!!

Haye is not a draw anywhere outside of Britain. Speaking for my country, no one in the U.S. outside the diehards had any clue he was fighting last night because boxing over here was all about Pacquiao-Margarito. (and I doubt any of those diehards held Haye-Harrison in higher regard than Pacquiao-Margarito)

Fair enough it was a bad night but for all the blah blah blah blaing going on now there was 10 times as much hot air generated in hyping up this sham fight.

It was never credible and any professional commentator who said Audley had a chance deserves the derisory short shift that many fans are giving now.

It's OK wanting to big up the sport at every opportunity but a paid scribe needs to be more discerning and detached at times. Journalists as promoters just doesn't work for me.

Ive been a fan of boxing for 15 years, i have never witnessed such a pile of **** and been told to enjoy it. STEVE BUNCE I'm talking about you. You are a brown-noser of the highest order and the sky team can go **** themselves too. You have blown it with the casuals now, these are the same fans who made Hatton very rich. They watched all his ppv fights and travelled to las vegas to watch his fights. When they watched an Hatton fight they new it was A)competitive (even when he got beat it was against the best 2 p4p of the last 15 years B) value for money, he would give his all and go to the trenches. You guys cashed in and ****ed it all up. WELL DONE.

Boxing is not dead, but it is dying, fights like this give boxing yet another heart attack. Unscrupulous promoters and t.v companies are a cancer to boxing. Journalists with power like Bunce should tell it like it is or not say anything at all.

If Man Utd were playing Yeovil, pundits would say Man U would trounce them and its a one-sided mismatch, this fight was the same, yet people were led to believe it was some sort of fa-cup final between Man Utd and Man City. All this bad blood and 2 talented individuals aiming to take each others head off. This is not what we got...

This situation reminds me of the England football team, hype hype hype, ''we can beat anybody, all has gone well and the boys look ready blah blah blah'' they then get hammered by the Germans. Fans were switching off at half time saying they would never watch England again and footballers were overpaid primadonna's etc etc. These same fans that watched that game will most likely feel the same about saturday nights debacle.

To conclude, Buncey i once really liked you. I thought you were the new face of British boxing, who told it like it was and spoke truly. You have cashed in and sold out and bullshitted anyone stupid enough to listen to you. Your bias is ridiculous and your forever hanging off Hayes bell end. Hang your head in shame...

    Adiós, one could only hope...

Lay off Bunce, he wasn't the only one trying to sell the fight. I work in a largely male dominated workforce, and it was refreshing to hear most of them talk about boxing instead of soccer or Gaa for once, so even I as a boxing fan at times found myself hyping this fight up even though I suspected it would be one sided in Haye's favour.
But the fight itself was a disgrace, when one thinks of the great all British world title fights of the past, Lewis- Bruno was a classic and I'm sure they couldn't believe what they were watching as they sat at ringside.
Ultimately if you want to point the finger, the blame lies with Haye and Booth who made the fight. Haye's been waffling about challenges and fighting the best, but is yet to live up to his "big talk". IMO Haye is nothing short of a conman, and until he steps up to the plate and fights a Klitscho, my opinion won't change, and I'm sure a lot of people will be thinking the same after that debacle on Saturday.

Yes Buncey hyped the fight...on his radio show and on here to an extent....BUT not as Im aware to the general public, just us boxing fans.
Any true boxing fan knows exactly what Audleys like and knew exactly what happen. So while I have some sympathy for joe public who believed what they seen on sky or in the papers, anyone on here moaning about having to pay £15 only has themselves to blame.

True boxing fans knew it was going to be a joke of a fight even before it was announced.

The Man U - Yeovil is a good analogy, Sky and "journalists" like Bunce hyped it like it was going to be some close and even fight. Listening to the sky prefight it was shocking - The way the build up was you'd think it was Mayweather v Pacquaio or something.

Harrison is a joke of a boxer, and the display makes me wish he never sets foot in a ring again.

Anybody on here who changed their prediction based on Buncey needs their head read.

If Buncey conned the casuals that's great as far as I'm concerned.

    People are talking today.

    All press is good press.
