Atleast Buncey has the bollocks to come on here and answer his critics. Do any of the Sky Team post on here? Sky hyped the fight up with the numerous repeats of Ringside, Behind the Ropes and all the coverage on Sky Sports in the lead up to the fight. Are they answering any of the critics? Do you really think Nelson and Smith are gonna answer why they hyped it up so much and showed so little of the undercard. Buncey made a prediction and got it wrong, so the **** what. (Atleast he didnt say it would go 12rounds like some commmentators were saying.) I never knew Buncey was the oracle to all these supposed casual fans who tuned in especially for this fight. People hype things up all the time, doesnt mean you have to listen to them. Buncey does a good show every Thursday night and as he is paid to do, gives his opinions and predictions. He will get some right and get some wrong. I never knew Buncey was Audleys coach and told him to throw one punch in nearly 9mins of boxing.

  2. Some internet boxing fans think they have far more power than they actually do. I wouldn't get all excited about people whose sole purpose for existing seems to be whinging about anything and everything on an internet forum.

I think you under-estimate your own influence. As a leading member of the full-time british boxing press, the most vocal and most recognisable pundit in the land, what you write and rant about DOES have an impact.
Then again, maybe some of us look like we're exaggerating your role.
Of course, you're right, the fight would have been made even if Steve Bunce had retired to become a buddhist monk and taken a vow of silence for the whole of 2010 !
But you did take a conspicuously "pro-" position on the fight, or it appeared that way, and helped to partially "legitimize" it.

Then again, whether or not this fight was good or bad for boxing on the whole is hard to gauge. I've come out and called that "utter ****", but I might be full of **** here too. As people have pointed ou, even a mismatch can have a knock on effect, and get people asking about the Klitschko brothers, or reading the coverage of Pacquiao's latest win. I can only hope it hasn't made too many people too sceptical regarding big-time boxing promotions.

On balance, I'd say it's better not to have Audley Harrison being used as a advert for WORLD TITLE boxing, it was an absurd match all along.
All we can really do is laugh the whole thing off.

I don't think Haye has done himself any favours from a purely technical point of view with this match. This was no preparation for a real opponent, and psychologically he's set himself back by failing to test himself against a half-decent opponent before he takes on (IF he ever does) a Klitschko brother.
I'd like to see if he can beat an Eddie Chambers or a Povetkin, that would be interesting. Maybe Chagaev has enough left to give Haye a test, I don't know.

I agree about it being a PR disaster, and making boxing a laughing stock again. As I predicted it would pan out months ago.

I don't think the actual "fight" was any worse that I'd imagine though. I mean, I've SEEN Audley Harrison before. This was par for the course with him.

Are you complaining about people complaining ;)

My frustration is Haye that has the tools to make an impact. I called the fight a rip off from day one and I brushed aside by the Haye fans. The world tends to dismiss idealists like myself.

Listen guys, the bunce thing is just an observation. Its impossible to blame just him, the thing i am pissed off about is the fact he has reverted from the fans voice journalist we loved to a nut-hugging media *****. He has been on primetime and espn and neither have made him a permanent fixture hence the fact he is nut-hugging haye and sky. This fight was a farce before it was signed and even more when the bell rang. He should of shot this fight down, instead he promoted it. ****ish act imho...

Bunce you should shout fire when you see smoke, instead you have let us burn...

  9. **** you.

You're a rare exception to the rule mate :good

Wow.you ****ers are really giving it to this Dude.We don't get Buncey's show in North America but isn't he merely a radio talking head who specialise in Boxing talk.He has to keep it dramatic and sensational to keep listeners tuning in.I think you give him too much stick in terms of influencing the promotional team.
He has an opinion and he gave it.As it turns out he was wrong and willing to admit it(sort of).The sun will rise tomorrow morning and Bunce will be back in the saddle on his radio talk show as always. Some things never change.

Everybody hyped this fight up beyond belief.

You can't blame Buncey for robbing the "casual" fan's, because the majority of them don't know who he is. Sky are the blame for robbing the casual fan's, and any "real" Boxing fan's who we're "convinced" by Bunce, well you should of known better lol...

Btw' Bunce, you must have totally lost the plot if you think Haye will either...
    A - Fight either Klitschko
    B - Win either Klitschko

It's well known Bunce is an arse licker for British fighters but much much more so for Haye. Bunce would hype Haye against that pregnant man David Price was fighting.
