I think sky probably pay a fee for small bits they show. All TV networks do this when showing coverage from other channels.

Also I am not so sure it is sky banning fighters appearing on boxnation.

 

You're right mate, Boxnation will almost certainly charge for the footage to be shown, and it's standard practice.

Sometimes the amount channels/networks charge can be prohibitive. I remember reading once that was the main reason documentaries etc often use a series of photographs to show a fight rather than actual footage; one example was the Holyfield/Tyson fights; ask yourself how many times you've actually seen footage from the fights repeated on shows about Tyson or Holyfield, hardly ever is the answer!

I don't actually believe it is Sky preventing the boxers from appearing on Boxnation, what could they hope to achieve from this? All it would do is restrict an opportunity to promote/advertise one of their upcoming fights, it doesn't make sense. I'm pretty sure the problem lies with rival managers/promoters:bbb

Absolutely pathetic. Good on BoxNation for letting sky show their footage, showing highlights, freeview etc If you've got a good product then have faith in it.
