what a fight two master boxer wizzards hard at work taking it to each other. ill take a tough joey g.
I think I like Joey G. here also but this would be a very interesting match-up and a highly competitive battle
lots of footage of giardello and he could do it all(one of the most exciting fights i have in my collection is giardello vs gil turner, total action the whole fight and i might add turner was extremely tough)limited footage of burley to prove his greatness only hearsay.once again ill take giardello in a honey of a scrap.
Giardello wins it. Burley is a name a lot of people throw around to impress people that they know of a great fighter most people dont know much about. Burley a was methodical winning fighter but i think a tad overrated. Giardello had the real goods.
Giardello is much more textbook than Burley here. His jab, movement and sharp counters will have some success against Burley as Holman Williams was able to tame Burley with the jab and some lateral movement, I just don't think Giardello is as agile as Williams and as good defensively. I like Burley to take it with his 'serpentine' motion mucking up Giardello's defensive rhythm and allowing Burley to land some hard counters on Joey.
There is absolutely no analysis here. You just said that Giardello wins because Burley is overrated and Giardello has the "real goods."
****...depends on how much giardello can control the pace and dictate the fight. i've seen almost next to no giardello so i shouldn't even be posting but from what i've read he was a slick, technically sound operator. however, he was almost the definition of an inconsistent, elite fighter. at his best, he could outbox and out fitnese the top boxers of his era. we'll go with that joey. against burley i see him taking the first 4 rounds as burley adjusts to his style and is perplexed by what joey g is offering. as the rounds go by, i think burley begins to time him and as gpater noted, lands hard counters. joey g hated training by all accounts (his roadwork was non existent) and don't think his record indicates an profound ability to adapt to the unpredictable. burley would blood joey g by the middle rounds and his power would begin to tell the tale as he uses some of the most unusual angles joey has ever seen in the final third, joey shades some rounds with workrate but is more and more defensive as burley comes on and edges the fight for a MD based on effective, economic punching but i could be way off
I think Joey was pretty adaptable in the ring, he was pretty much a natural boxer. The longer he spends in the ring with Burley the much better he will do IMO.
Pretty much any of them. He is always relaxed and can figure out his opponent fairly well. His best performance is Tiger III.
