It looked legit and I have no reason to doubt it. He did fight pretty shook the first two minutes of the round before the injury so that's why maybe some people are saying that?

Either way, it was a close fight with neither guy emerging above the other up to that point.

The injury was legit, but Nonito's TKO win was legit as well IMO. I think the left hook from Donaire is what caused the injury, there's more than enough evidence to point in that direction, that left hook either caused a delayed reaction cramp or a ****ed up disc, so if that's the case, the injury came from a punch, raising the level of Nonito's win in the process.

Did you think Donaire was creeping up on him ?? I thought before the ending something was gonna hurt Burnett soon. The left hook definitely had an effect on him, lovely shot !

I scored the fight 3-1 Donaire, so yeah. I thought Donaire was consistently landing the heavier shots throughout, which was enough to edge most of the rounds towards him, and Nonito finished well in the 3rd, picking up where he left off in the 4th. Granted I picked Nonito to win by KO, so I might be a little biased. But I thought this was a terrible style clash for Burnett when it was announced, my only fear was the weight cut, but after the weigh in, my fears were allayed. Anyway, Nonito was right there with him from the opening bell, and the fight was a nip and tuck close affair up until the stoppage, with Burnett landing the cleaner more eye catching shots, while Donaire was landing the more damaging ones.

    It definitely was spinal.

Badly broken rib I reckon, the pivot from that right hand heightened it. That left hook was a monster and if you slow it down you can see Burnett noticeably wince when it lands.

It looked lower than his ribs...he had his glove on his hip. Muscle tear? Anything would be better than a back injury, yes, a spinal injury. Pulling a muscle hurts but doesn't incapacitate you as long or need as serious a surgery lik e a cracked vertebrae.

Could well be mate, as you said it was lower than where his ribs are but pain can refer or a bad muscle tear.

Interestingly, when he goes to the corner before the injury round, he tells Booth "I can't move it", apparently related to one of his arms, so something was obviously troubling him before that missed right hand really exacerbated it.

Check out this timestamped bodyshot in the 1st. Probably not related to injury but showing he was really digging them in and Burnett to his credit did well to keep the poker face up.

Lower rib would make sense, he was holding side and back

The fact that he hasn't confirmed that it was back i.e. spine related gives credence to this as it would be slightly embarrassing to admit he had to pull out due to a busted rib. I await to fully eat my words on that one however lol.

    Check this out mate, timestamped.

Forget Ron's hysterical commentary, he's actually using his gloved hand to pull his shorts down and away from the lower rib area to relieve pressure. Note it's only on one side as well.

I'm convinced this guy had his ribs bust on his right side. Macintosh giving it the "I don't think it was from a punch" ffs. Burnett had a very good poker face until it finally pushed him over the edge is what happened.

I know its not the same situation and every situation with the back is different, but I have back problems and a spine injury will drop you where you are standing no forgiving, muscle pulls
Yeah, Donaires too classy to disagree with the cause too, he knows the left done something too
