True. Just means he wasn't as shocking as before, doesn't make him any good. IMO ;-) I felt he looked damn average against (admittedly decent journeyman) Cornelius Lock.
17 KO's from 21, got the job done quicker than Guerrero Caballero and Juarez couldnt do it. clearly a feather fisted fighter. :thumbsup
Mind you, he did some job on Escalante, who I thought was a world class contender, was never expecting him to get rid of Escalante the way he did.
bit out of line that mate to be honest, proper Don King move steping over Ricky and lifting up the G, I would have thought you would have some kind of friendship there. Bit of a tip, pull out with injury, claim something about the weight step up and be kevin mitchells comeback opponent. Failing that get Alex Ariza in
Hardly a power punching demon either; he's only stopped one figther of note, one with a glass chin. And a natural 126lber. Your 'Caba couldn't do it' doesn't work either. He ain't a puncher. Not at 130 anyway.
I think Escalante's punch resistance was deteriorating by then, obviously that Ponce right hand did it no favours, and Escalante couldn't take a rotten orange to the jaw nowadays. It was a decent win for Ponce and a very nice KO though, one of the best in 2010 :good
Ok we will see. Personally find the critcism of the kid very amusing indeed. Yes he needs to work on his footwork no doubt, but he's a good fighter fair play to burns for at last stepping up after 3 poor defences
I don't think people are criticising Broner to spite Burns, I'm certainly not. I just don't rate Broner much at all. I've watched a couple of his early fights, and against 2 very unproven fighters in Fernando Quintero and William Kickett, he looked decidedly average in each. Arguably losing to Quintero, and being outboxed by Kickett before the KO (The Aussies chin is/was atrocious). My criticism of Broner comes from my disagreement with those who rate him highly and see him as a future 'top fighter in the division'. I can't see that, he's got a lot more flaws than just his footwork. Not that this isn't a good step up for Burns, it is, but it's not a step up to the top.
Why is he a good fighter? Based on.......? He's looked **** every time I've seen him. O.K he sparked Litzau; most top fighters should, Caba got stick from me for not doing so:good
Being outboxed by Kickett? Well that would of been for all of four rounds at the most. He had him on his arse in round 5
