Burns Challenges for interim wbo lightweight title

Billy, how soon after Adrien Broners name was mentioned did you decide it was in Rickys saftey interest to move up in weight?

 

I am gutted as a Scottish boxing fan that Ricky isn't going to fight Broner, because I think he can beat him. It is a shame but it does seem Ricky has outgrown the weight. I hope he can do well at lightweight, but I hate all this 'two time world champion' stuff, it isn't doing him any favours, and I hope it isn't coming from Burns camp. Its like when folk went on about Arthur being world champ when he beat Foster Jnr to win Interim champ status. It is really dissapointing as I would love to see Ricky fight in the US or take on a big name in Glasgow.

The genuine fans are getting a bit restless now with all these mixed messages. First Fana, then Broner, after two fairly easy defences and the unfortunate events with Cook. I hope Ricky can get a fight that does him justice. He is a world champion and doesn't deserve all this flak he is taking on here. I hope Burns management sort it out and do him justice.

Aye this will be a great fight, Go on Ricky! For all those who said he was a coward I would like to see youse get in a ring with Katsidis.

It would have been great to have seen him go over to the States to beat Broner. I think he was well up for it and would have done the job, though might not have got the decision on the cards. It would have been great if they could have managed to get Broner in Glasgow.
