Hah, Uchiyama is my favourite boxer currently though - and it's not down to his nationality. Honestly, I follow Japanese boxing a lot but I'm not emotionally attached to many fighters from there. Hasegawa, Uchiyama...that's about it. Obviously it's hard to get attached to Japanese or other non-English speaking fighters, due to it being hard to grasp their personalities and follow them outside of the ring down to the language barrier (although it's not hard to come to the conclusion that Koki Kameda is a dick).

The only other boxers from Japan that I really hope do well are the ones I've bigged up on here...to give me more credence :yep

I'm happy for Ricky, glad he's still got his title but I feel a bit sorry for him. At the moment there aren't enough big (mainstream) fights out there to get some of the tits on here to lay off him. Where does he turn apart from a makeable fight like Fana? I don't think the unification will happen I personally think Warren will look to make as much as he can from the Scottish audience (not much tonight obviously) before putting him in with one of his other fighters that he believes in a bit more.

At times tonight Ricky looked good. He looked better in exchanges than he did actually boxing his man. The body work was effective but a lot of his work was mistimed and predictable. The weight might be a factor but if it is and he needs to move to lightweight, guys like Katsidis will take him apart - I'm sorry to say.

Never thought I'd see a Charley Burley reference in a Ricky Burns debate.

    Well played

I ask, as on a few occasions you have mentioned that many or a good few didnt rate or saw through the overhyped Martinez.

You missed an epic. Dave Darts was right when he said "it could be one of the fights of the year."

They're already talking about a trilogy and Ricky landing a part in River City: The Movie

Flea Man for one. He counts as 3 people, he has the chin of 3 people at least.

I said before that fight that I didn't see Martinez as neccessarily what people on here did. Anybody can check my post history for that. Why people went ape**** over knocking out Nicky Cook who has been sparked before by a modest puncher (who even outboxed Martinez) I have no idea. Nicky Cook is no barometer of anything. People were talking like he was the proven best super feather in the world when all he'd done is beat Nicky Cook and racked up a few soft defences in PR. Think about that for a second.
