Yes he won, but at no point was I impressed with his skill set at all. I have seen him fight before, and I don't chalk up last nights performance to a bad night. He was swinging wildly, missing and getting countered for 7 rounds. I will say this, the fact that he didn't get discouraged was impressive because he was ineffective on almost all levels.

So whats next for him, do you think there will be a rematch or will he move on to someone else. I think it goes without saying that he dodged a bullet in broner, because if those two were to have a showdown, there is no doubt in my mind how it would end for burns...

    Burns is solid, not outstanding.

I do think Broner would beat him, but it wouldnt be an easy night.

    Maybe Vasquez.

Burns has a lot of heart, and a good chin.

He has wins over Martinez,Katsidis and Mitchell, so hes a solid fighter.

Interesting to see what he does next.

Dont think he beats the other champs though.

Be even more interesting to see what Gonzalez does next

Rematch should be offered as Burn's did not prove to be the better man. He was actually being dominated.

But no way will Burns rematch that guy.

They will go on pretending like Burns is an elite, and keep him "at home" against carefully matched competition.

The Broner fight is never going to happen, we can forget that and after last night I doubt his team will want to put him in with Vazquez. Maybe a fight with DeMarco could happen but I think Ricky would lose that, although it would be a good competitive fight.

Ill be honest I haven't seen Gonzalez before the burns fight, but it doesn't seem he has all that much power, despite what his record says. Because of this I also don't think burns's chin is all it is made out to be either. He was hurt several times in that fight and was on the verge of being stopped, but his heart carried him through. Honestly it is probably average

I'm thinking it would be a tough fight and Broner will take it in a likley UD.

However, to think that Broner will do the same to Burns as Gonzalez did is reaching it. Gonzalez moved - a lot. That's not how Broner fights. I think Burns actually has more of a chance against someone like Broner, who although likes to attack, is also defensively minded. But he's defensive by rolling, doing the Philly Shell, not by moving as Gonzalez did. And if he does that, Burns has a much better chance as he'll be swinging all night and will garner a higher connect percentage for sure. As we saw in the Rees fight, he is defintely hittable.

As they say, styles make fights. Gonzalez was all wrong for Burns but with broner he has a decent chance. I certainly wouldn't say he dodged a bullet with Broner and I hope they do fight in the future.

Agree with the idea that broner is in no way the same fighter as gonzalez, but even in the 7th when a majority of the fight was being fought in close quarters gonzalez, the smaller man, was getting the better of the exchanges. This would not happen with broner and the punches coming at burns would be much harder, and possibly faster. I would be a nightmare for burns because there would be nothing for him to do because broner would destroy him even if it was a burns style fight.

As soon as the level of opposition is stepped up Burns is losing that belt. No two ways about it.

As for Gonzales, he is an absolute disgrace.

There will never be a rematch. They had to fight this guy and they wont fight him voluntary again.
Stop talking about Broner this fight wont happen and Burns would lose easy. Broner is faster, stronger and has more power than Gonzalez. Also Broner has way more fights at world level than Burns. Burns will stay at Lightweight this division is not that strong. At light welterweight he wont win a title in my opinion.
