Looks like a smashing undercard on Sept 4th. Anyone know who Appleby will be fighting? Looking forward to seeing him move up after the poor show against ML.
Doubt Appleby will fight anyone fantastic but would be good to get him in for the Celtic title. Kevin O'Hara would be good. Femi Fehintola would also.
i hope appleby gets a half decent opponent and after it isn't rushed into big fights too soon again. i always thought he was a decent boxer but just rushed in his progress too quickly.
He's been matched perfectly. He lost to a fellow undefeated prospect away from home, bit premature IMO, in a competitive fight. He should keep having them. Whether it makes the W Colum in his ring record more aesthetically pleasing or not, he'll learn and become a better fighter for it, he's only young, and clearly f'n good. Unfortunately, he will no doubt nobodies until he's 36-1 or something, then go in woefully unprepared and get spanked.
before the defeat he had a few hard fights and could have been beat from simpson. i never said i wanted him to fight nobodies i said a half decent fighter and should then be moved up fight by fight.
Belfast was a ****in cauldron that night and if he had won I remember at the time thinking it would all seriously kick off. Lindsey was a tough ask anyway but over there with that home crowd, daunting, but probably a great experience for him. I don't think it's in Applebys make up to do a nobody 36-1 run. I think he's been put in with some tough fights and tried to fast track too soon but will continue to take decent fights (hopefully). Hope he gets someone semi decent for the 8 rounder.
Appleby was matched really well, in proper learning fights. The fact that he lost is irrelevant, it was a 50-50 fight against a good opponent who just happened to be better on the night. These are the fights we need to see, get some proper domestic rivalries going again rather than weight hopping to avoid people or ''let's wait until it's bigger'' syndrome.
i wouldn't write off burns. it is a big ask but he is big and strong at the weight and tough enough to stand up to martinez's power.
In never understood why the champ had to travel to Ireland to defend his own title, at the very least the fight should have been on the mainland.
