Rob is a lot more reasonable than Steve is about Haye. No wonder Haye struggled to make cruiserweight with Buncey's head up his arse. In fairness I think some of his points about Burns are justified, in fact I've probably posted many of the same things - it's not unreasonable to expect him as a so-called ''world champion'' to fight the best fighters in the world in that particular weight class, nor is it unreasonable to complain that an Allegedly fighter got a shot at Burns by beating an icecream salesman.... when fighters like Buckland can hardly get a look in domestically. Though it seems they've responded and put him in a proper fight, so credit is due. If it happens.
Well that brings to an end one of the most disappointing title reigns of recent history but hay on the plus side Burns-Katsidis is a very good matchup and if Burns wins I think that will prove that he belongs at world level. With all due respect to Billy and Ricky, right now there is a question mark over whether or not he belongs at that level and this fight will tell us what level Ricky belongs at because unlike Martinez Katsidis is tried and tested at the elite level.
It's a decent fight but I'm not that excited by it. I think Burns should of tried to become the Ring Champ at SF and he could maybe have been defending it by now. This place would have been buzzing if that was the case, instead there is just bitterness about the shitty path his career was taken in. It wasn't just boring as **** watching Burns vs Evensen, Laraya and embarrassing against Cook, it was horrible watching a golden opportunity be flushed down the bog. Burns should have faced Fana after the Martinez fight. It would of been a massive fight riding on the wave of enthusiasm most of us had from the Martinez fight and it would have established Burns as the champ if he won which seemed probable after the Martinez win. It wasn't exactly the hardest fight to make either. Burns could be a star now, instead he can't sell out because he is fighting Afrobums. I've become so bored by it all now that a fight with Katsidis doesn't even register any excitement. I see it as a fight that was picked because it had a bauble attached and the last time Kats was at Lightweight he was smacked around easily for 12 rounds by Robert Guerrero and before that was knocked out by Marquez. Should Burns get pasted him it will be Kevin Mitchell next in another WBO FW milking.
Big difference between an ATG in Marquez and Burns..... one of them is a nightmare stylistically and the other is favourable.
Katsidis wipes the floor woth him. i like ricky but will be cheering on Kat. seems like such a good bloke. I suspect maybe ****** ios throwing ricky to the dogs and has options on katsidis. knows katsidis is very marketable and likeable. let kat have a few fights , few more miles on the clock then throw him to mitchell.....
Jonesy (Big Dunk) is a big scardy poofder who hates on people doing well. Away collect your rent money, rent boy :rofl
My natural skepticism for all things FW related led me to a similar conclusion. Cash out on Ricky now, keep Kats on the radar of British fans and then put Mitchell back in with him once they're sure he's slid far enough. Hope Ricky wins this though, you get the impression that he's had little say in his defences at SFW so it's good to see him get a chance to prove himself.
Ricky burns genuinely seems a decent bloke. There's nothing to not like about him. But I don't give him a chance of beating katsidis. None.
