Burns v Mitchell - Is this a crossroads fight?

This is a great match, but FW does not normally eliminate a ticket seller.

Who is the opponent? - Presumably Burns, but he is on the roll where Mitchell has gone stale.

This is far short of a WBO, or even a European match for Mitchell. He gave up the Commonwealth belt and has gone backwards

You mean regarding previous "stature" or fighting Burns ?

I see Mitchell like Arthur was a while back under Warren, a goldenboy and rightfully so but is now treading water.....career wise.

No, Arthur isnt treading anymore.....oh how i wish...........wasted by Warren.

I think this is definitely a cross roads match.

Mitchell has had 18 months out of competitive action, and for a while before that he was treading water with bull**** two week's notice jobs - little of that is his own doing of course.

Burns has been fed a lot of tripe since losing to Carl Johanneson, but has shown noticable improvement in his last four or five fights.

Neither could consider themselves worthy of their top 3 rankings with the WBO, but anyways, this is a solid top end domestic/mid Euro level fight.

May the best man win - the loser may as well pack in...... nowhere to go, most likely.

How is it a backwards step for Kevin Mitchell :huh

Who cares what title he's ranked for, he has not fought a living body except for Carl Johannesson, and considering he was past his best and the improvement of Burns an argument could be made this is his toughest test to date.

whoever loses, think its bit harsh to say they should hang them up. there both still young enough to rebuild.

    1. Why not be considered in the top 3 ? Or 5 etc ?

Have we not seen "worse" ?

Better still, what makes a WBO fighter, regarding themselves and the "authenticity" of such a belt ?

    2. That last statement is ridiculous......Mitchell may just had the break from boxing that he needed, ( 18 months of dream filled Warren world ) for example, a win would look great, a loss could be regarded as "rusty"

The fact that there may be worse is irrelevant to my point - I was referring to them, and them only.

On reflection I was probably a little strong with the last statement, thanks for pointing that out :good

    aah Meg Mortimer & Benny:lol:

My gran used to watch this show when I was a kid, brings back a whole load of memories of being bored shitless waiting on the show finishing! I liked Benny though, he reminds me of ESB poster Govanmauler.

This is both Burns and Mitchell's toughest test to date without a doubt.. Burns is very much improved under Billy Nelson and is a very underated puncher!! Mitchell is dangerous throught so it'll make for a good fight!! Burns will come with a plan while Mitchell will come looking for the KO..:good
