Style wise Burns is a nightmare for anyone, He's quick,Massive for the weight, much improved power, bags of stamina and a good boxing brain on him.. This could spell danger for Kevin!! I know Billy has been anticipating this fight for a long time so will have the game plan all worked out.. Where as Kevin never thought this fight would be happening when he gave up the Commenwealth title so there's a little more to this fight than meets the eye...;)

I've seen Burns up close and he's a very good kid believe me!!:good

Good point that Tony, he's much better 'live' then he comes across on the Telly. Watching him spar with Tyrone Nurse, Frampton and John Simpson the other week was brillliant.

Brash Essex boy Kevin Mitchell makes up for lost time in a dangerous encounter with tall Scot Ricky Burns for British and Commonwealth super-featherweight titles on the Amir Khan-Dmitry Salita bill in Newcastle on December 5.
Mitchell holds the British belt; Burns, the Commonwealth.
Dagenham’s Mitchell, an impressive 29-0 (22) yet still only 25, was forced out for a year after long-standing hand problems plagued him in a five-round war with Colombia’s useful Walter Estrada at the Boardwalk Hall in Atantic City in June 2008. Mitchell won the fight, after an ‘iffy’ start. His heart, power and durability were firmly intact but hand surgery followed and that long year out, during which Michell was collared for drink-driving. He is the type who would get depressed sitting – a man who loves to fight. He’s won two on the spin since returning this year, including a good rust-shaker - and hand-tester - against the Dominican Republic’s Rudy Encarnacion, whom he stopped in eight rounds in Manchester in July.
Exciting, quick and talented, Kevin possesses a particularly good jab, and the lofty 5ft 10ins Burns is a man who relies a lot on his own jab a lot. This might be the key to the fight and its outcome – a battle of jabs before anything else. Mitchell hits the harder and throws more shots. Burns needs to establish the jab quickly.
“Tricky” Ricky looks a much-improved fighter from the man dropped three times and outscored over 12 rounds by Leeds banger Carl Johanneson in February 2007 in Leeds. The Coatbridge stylist has won 12 on the spin since to take his record 27-2 (7). His recent victims include Michael Gomez, Kevin O’Hara and Ghana’s tasty Osumanu Akaba, the latter for the Commonwealth belt. He stopped the menacing Gomez in seven rounds.
Nevertheless, the Johanneson defeat is stark because Mitchell stopped “Ingemar” in nine thrilling rounds at London’s O2 Arena in March 2008 to win the British title – a year after Burns was trounced by Johanneson, although styles always make fights. The only other man to better Burns, by the way, is Edinburgh’s vastly more experienced Alex Arthur in a 12-rounder on points in Edinburgh in 2006. Like Mitchell, Burns is seasoned for his years (26). “That boy’s got something,” said Marvelous Marvin Hagler on Ricky's pro debut. He certainly moves better than Mitchell and his sharp counterpunching off the jab could seriously trouble his shorter, more aggressive rival. In addition, Newcastle is a helluva closer to Burns’ territory than Mitchell’s, which should never be underestimated as a plus factor.
This one is nicely balanced, then, a good old-fashioned domestic showdown, a good old-fashioned Anglo-Scot showdown, a good old-fashiohed 50-50, a ‘real’ boxing match.
I fancy Mitchell to prove the stronger.

i dont like mitchells long lay off, do we know if he's been training with roach or was that a myth?
if mtchell has been working with roach then hopefully he's learnt some head movement and defense, the speed and powers there and i feel burns will end up getting on his bike.

mitchell by ud in quite an entertaining fight early on.
