Burns is a really good fighter. I don't think he will beat Broner but I fancy against Khan and Gamboa.
Willie limond fought a great fight that night,he suffered a perforated ear in round 2 a,nd still managed to put amir down for 12 seconds, remember willie was out the ring for a long time before that fight as well which would have benefited amiir. Even worse willie never got a domestic title shot against John Murry because of that performance, many people have told me joe Gallagher didn't want willie v John.
You've hardly rebuffed Nipple's claim with that picture though, have you? Firstly Khan clearly had no business at lightweight - whilst he's undoubtedly fragile, the decision to fight at that weight was obviously exacerbating the situation. Secondly I could easily post pictures/footage of Carl Johanneson dumping Ricky on his arse ... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOQgYFaVBio[/ame] ... and act as if i've produced conclusive proof as to why Khan would tool Burns. But the truth of the matter is that both fighters have improved dramatically since those early career blips, and that neither incident has any relevance whatsoever.
Reports state that Limond had a broken jaw, it was even mentioned post fight....thats the swelling that his corner were worried about....you might be right though. The ***an Myth always makes me laugh to be honest. It was an awful fight to take in the first place but people try to discredit the win with the "break" thing, not mentioning that it was caused by Khan putting Oisin on his arse....it has the ring of Hayes toe about it. Over time ***ans injury, which he claimed post fight was a broken ankle, has turned into a full on broken leg. To listen to people you would imagine that the tough Irish bloke fought Khan with a shattered thigh bone sticking through the flesh. In reality he probably had a hairline fracture, the type of thing that most people would walk about on and just get on with it....I'd love to see the x-rays.
I was just listening to amazin Alex Arthur on the scottish news there flapping his gums about all things Ricky Burns, he was giving uncle Frank a lorra lorra stick for the farcical Burns opponent situation, but did say that he fancied Ricky's chances of beating Broner if it happened:good Oh, & Alex said "most definitely" about 150 times.
At what stage could Burns have a choice in whether he leaves FW or not ? Does he have a contract for a certain amount of fights ?
I dont think he will leave uncle Frank, cos Im pretty sure Franks going to pull a big rabbit out of the hat in the new year, in the shape of Adrian Broner.
People keep criticising Burns about avoiding this fight when in reality neither he, nor FW or anyone other than Adrien Broner has a say in the matter. If Frank is going to make this fight he is going to have to have very seriously deep pockets, and I don't think that he has.
