Actually he asked for $10 million to fight Cotto and Hatton when he was negotiating with Bob Arum. This was confirmed by Bob Arum, not Mayweather btw.

Mayweather also had agreed to fight Margarito for 8 million, if Arum would guarantee the 10 million for Cotto & Hatton, plus he wanted $20 million to fight Oscar.

Arum did not think Mayweather was worth that kind of money, so he did not offer him the multi-fight contract. Mayweather bought himself out of Top Rank for $600,000, and has gone on to make huge paydays. You were right in regard to why Mayweather left: Bob Arum rapes his fighters financially, period.

Ever since then, Bob Arum has had an axe to grind with Floyd. Godfather Bob did not get his cut and that is unacceptable to Arum.

Does everyone realize that these type of articles are Guesses and not real earnings? Floyd is full of it. 20 mil from the WWE Ye right! 30 mil form one fight BS .He owes the tax department and had to borrow off his future purses to keep the tax man from locking him up

Not guesses bro. Go to the fortune 500 athelete earnings for 2008 and you will see the breakdown of the top athletes and ofcourse Tiger Woods is number#1.

Thats why they call him 'money'.

Do the haters still think PBF is broke and cant afford to not fight Pacquiao lol

I dont care what fighters earn however find it laughable that anyone could think Mayweather was a poor man. People still seem to think the taxman is after every last dime his got.

They are largely educated guesses as a lot of the numbers are not publicly released. For example, Nike often do not releases all particulars of an athletes contract like merchandising share or bonuses.

Floyd bought himself out for 600k? Arum must be kicking himself

Just think, if PBF was still in Arum's stable, he would have had the 2 biggest cash cows and in return more fighters probably would sign to top rank rather than GBP. Top rank would really beat GBP.

We probably would have seen Mayweather-Pac by now too.

When these companies do this, they are pretty spot on with the estimates.

When he was fighting and had lots of money, he always bragged about how much money he had, even after his retirement. Shortly before his comeback there were many reports and rumours of him owing money and running out, hence why he had to come back, whenever reporters asked him about money then he always came back with the same answer "i dont ask you about your personal business, so dont ask me about mine". He was getting defensive because he ran out, whereas before he would brag.

    Just a hunch.

So, Floyd is a great buisnessman outside of boxing or a broke fool? Which one?

There is no way that Arum is not angry at the missed revenue from Floyd's big money fights.

Think about it: Floyd was brought up through the ranks by Arum. Promoted by Top Rank practically his whole career. Now when the guy you invested in is finally ready to make some big time money, he splits.

Don't tell me Bob Arum is not mad. Floyd Mayweather Jr. has not fought a Top Rank fighter since he and Bob split ways. :deal

Sorry, but I do not buy into the notion that Floyd or Manny are scared to fight each other. I think egos in management are more responsible. It is no secret that Arum is no fan of Golden Boy Promotions (Oscar) either.

Bold -- You would have definitely seen Cotto vs Mayweather.

Along with the money from the JMM fight, he may have done odd jobs here and there.
