Was sparring yesterday and I unfortunately ducked into a very solid right hand that landed on the top portion on the bridge my nose bone. Seems like it broke because I heard and felt a slight click in my nose when the hit landed, and immense amounts of blood came out of it like a faucet hehe. Although the cartilage is not swollen and looks normal, the upper portion (bone) between my eye brows is quite swollen indeed. Its the first time happening to me, been sparring/training for about a year so far and I guess it was destined to happen since I got one of them big Erik Morales nose lol. Anyways Has anyone been through this...And how long has it taken for the swelling to go down or the nose to feel solid again? :!::think:|
definitely wont take long. even if its broken badly, which it definitely doesn't seem like it is, i would give it a week and a half - two weeks tops. keep those hands up
broken mine about 6 times. two surgeries... if u just broke the bridge (and u can proly tell, that click will stay there for a while), u could be out for a month or so if its a deep break. it may not be broken tho. if not just a week or so. but if its broken solid (like location has changed and u can kinda rotate it...and again that cracking clicking noise will be apperent) u should get it checked out and DEFINITELY not box again till its set. thats my opinion anyways...i like my nose to look pretty.
Yeah I don't intend on getting anywhere near a pair of fists till I know whats up with this. It feels quite jacked right now, but like I said the only part that is swollen is between the eye brows. And there is a small click to it if i press up on one side. Not to sure what to do, but thanks for the input bud.
I've had about 3 breaks, never got a doctor to look at it. I figured it was not that bad, even though I had good swelling and lots of bleeding. As a result my nose is slightly curved to the left, but I still have good cartlidge. If I took the proper care it proly wouldn't look crooked. oh well...
Other than robbing you of just over a hundred dollars for a measly visit I'm not sure what my doc could do either.
good advise, besides my crooked nose, one problem I developed was some violent ass snoring. I scared many at bedtime :yikes. Take care of that nose
LOL! Sounds like EXACTLY the same injury I had a few years ago. I kept on sparring but a few days later it seemed as if whenever I caught a shot to the nose I would feel a shock from a nerve that ran down the side of the nose. This lasted for a few months until I took a month off to let it heal up. Take the time off now so you don't go through what I did. Nothing horrible but enough pain to get your attention I assure you. Hope all heals well for you!
I broke my mine playing basketball in a high school game, so I now how youre feeling. Good luck and don't let that **** **** with your boxing dreams
I was back from my broken nose in about 2 weeks; so its probably nothing to worry about......but im no doctor
I have broken my nose more times than I can remember, the worst effect to my mind, (It can always be reset and look normal) is that the slightest knock to my nose now, and it will bleed. Which is a pretty serious problem if your'e sparring a lot, for obvious reasons. A half decent punch, even if it lands mostly on my cheek and my nose bleeds like ****. Hopefully you wont have the same problem, just try and keep your hands up in future to avoid this:good
