come on! was bowe better than golata? NO. golata ****ed up in fights he was winning and it is petty to say bowe was the better man in those fights. golata kicked his ass. golata is a fruit loop but he showed he was better than bowe losing- if that is possible.
beating tony tubbs is nothing to be proud of, witherspoon did it caked on grass.
    bruce seldon?
Larry Donald- who did he beat?
Bert cooper - did he ever beat a good fighter?
mike dokes was something years earlier but coetzee put him into perspective.
hide was good knocking out nobodies but CAN ANYONE name a somebody he KOD?

    his top 4 is probably

    holyfield
    seldon
    hide
    dokes

    tht's not uncomparable with

    tyson
    berbick
    mccall
    page.

that's all I'm saying. a man of bowe's ability should be light years ahead.

their top wins are comparable and i see your point. i think the consensus is that douglas' inconsistency would prevent him from necessarily performing at that level and shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt that he'd be at his best. if he was, based on styles i'd say bowe takes him in the battle of the jabs after losing the first 4, working his way in and wearing douglas down on the inside for a TKO 10

bowe had the ability to be a top 10 all time heavyweight. as it stands he's fighting for a top 25 spot

douglas really reached the peak of his ability and can't be falted for not making more of what he had. in one night he brought it all together, which is more than most fighters do in 10 year careers

I agree, buster was an overachiever. completely surpassed expectations.

a man with bowe's ability, in the era he fought in. should have been a top 5 lock. he probably goes down on par with norton, jeanette and vitali.

Bowe WAS a one-night wonder. Apart from that night, he was almost always lazy or clumsy or fat or some combination of those three.

Douglas decision. Bowe can be out-boxed from a distance.

How old was bowe for the golota fights? I've just realised how quick a burn out that is!

92-96, we're talking tyson level burnout there!

Tokyo Douglas would be all wrong for Bowe, he has the jab, movement and counter punching to outbox Bowe and for this night he was 100% Other versions probably succumb to Bowe's pressure after outboxing him early

You think he could stop bowe coming in and forcing a war?

I think he could follow holy's blueprint from the rematch.

If you look at Bowe's fights with Tubbs, Holy 2 and the 2 Golota fights, you can see his problems with fast outfighters with movement. Now he might not have been at his best for all of those granted but it's still a weakness. The Douglas that fought Tyson is much better outfighter than all 3, Holyfield included because Holyfield likes to come inside and doesn't have the same physical dimensions

    He was 28 or 29 I think
