I think he was prime for them, maybe out of shape for golota 1 but not the rematch.

I'm not sure douglas is a better out fighter; holy had better lateral movement and footspeed. His handspeed and combos were better.

Buster had a better jab and better dimensions for the style.

I think the Douglas who beat Tyson was overall a more skilled fighter than the Bowe who beat Holyfield. Bowe's perfomance was tremendous that night, but he lacked defensively and Douglas' punches had a lot more on them the punches of the 208 lbs (lightest of any of his championship fights at HW) Holyfield.

With that said, I think Bowe's will and competiveness was on another level and in the end I believe this would make the difference. Bowe wins by late stoppage.

I agree with this, but Bowe had the ability to just keep coming even when taking a beating and this will **** with all but the strongest minds. Perhaps Douglas' will was on such a level for that night only, but he never showed so on any other occassion. But perhaps on that night...

I do lean towards Bowe, though.

I'd say those are debatable, when Douglas is on, but the key for me is Douglas 6'4 frame with a 82inch reach, Holyfield didn't really want to jab from range and even if he did he had to move into his opponents range to do so, Douglas can pick apart Bowe from the outside

Bowe takes unless Buster has had a recent death in the family...Come on now. I know both guys would rather eat than train but some of you are really picking Douglas over Bowe? Seriously?

Even at age 83 the footspeed and lateral movement he displayed against valuev was of a high level.

I agree about frame and jab being an advantage for buster.

I still doubt his ability to keep bowe on the outside however.

To be fair though my grandad who struggles to get up the stairs would look like Sugar Ray Robinson next to Valuev

    Haha

I think holy's out game is a bit underrated historically speaking but I also believe he laid the blueprint for beating bowe.

Speaking of underrated though, bowe's jab was pretty good itself and there's a chance of big daddy out jabbing buster before mowing him down.

I think styles favour bowe here.
