Buster Douglas, Hasim Rahman... Tyson Fury? All beat a dominant HW champ in fights that many didnt expect them to win. James Douglas was 29-4-1 when he beat a 37-0 Mike Tyson Hasim Rahman was 34-2 when he beat a 38-1-1 Lennox Lewis Tyson Fury was 24-0 when he beat a 64-3 Wladimir Klitschko Douglas and Rahman were decent HWs but both lost their next fight. Admittedly to a HW great. Tyson Fury besides the Klitschko win has also proved to be a decent HW having won English, British, Commonwealth and European titles to go with the world titles he won. The big difference is that Tyson and Lewis lost because they didn't train hard, underestimated their opponent and got caught. When Douglas and Rahman them faced an opponent that didn't underestimate them, they got handled. Wlad was in peak condition when he lost, but got dominated from the opening bell as Fury is simply the much better man.
Im not disputing any of that I was saying about guessing what will happen with Fury in the next few fights I picked for Fury to beat Wlad and did a thread beforehand that was spot on
Add Leon Spinks to that list. Beat an aging ATG in Ali when nobody expected it, then spiraled out of control on drink and drugs. Spinks at least held it together long enough to actually fight the rematch unlike Fury. Fury could very well be seen as another Spinks, Rahman or Douglas, his resume is pretty thin, basically Wlad, Chisora and Cunningham. If he gets exposed before getting another shot at Joshua, history will side line him as a guy with talent who caught an aging champ at the right time then imploded. Maybe he does a bit better and is seen on par with Bowe who too basically had a very short prime but even past prime was good enough to hang around at top level for a few years before he became totally shot. Or maybe he shocks us all and ends up being undisputed champion. Time will tell what Fury's legacy will be, at the moment it's up in the air. These next few years will define his career.
Fury ran away from the rematch. In reality he should have been stripped and all the titles given back to WK for his no show and ped positive.
That's how I see him at the moment, like Neon Leon with an addition for being busted for PEDs too. It's up to Fury to disprove that, but I don't believe he actually can.
I said shortly after his first retirement that he would never be seen in the ring again. I still have my reservations about his latest return. Maybe he's trying to act like Ali and be sidelined during his prime, come back and reek havoc on the division. I don't know, but I have huge doubts about this dude.
What happened next is that this a garbage thread. English, British, Commonwealth and European titles...What? GTFOH
WTF you going on about twat? British, Commonwealth and European titles are well respected titles. Thats why you are only a one off season ticket and not a long term
Respected by whom except Islanders like yourself. Those belts has about as much prestige as NABF and NABC trinkets does on this side of the world.
I put him in with Oliver McCall. Every fighter mentioned has some sense of normalcy. McCall didn't have it upstairs, and that's what I suspect of Fury. Hopefully he won't wander the ring shedding tears like McCall. This content is protected
So your point is he should have been banned for the Wlad fight? It wasn't a spec of Meldonium either.
