I wouldn’t say he got dominated. I had Wlad losing and it was a pretty lackluster performance but I’m sure if he was a few years younger he would have handled Fury. Fury is a good fighter but I really have serious doubts he can handle the skill and athleticism of Wilder & Joshua. I don’t know if he will ever have his head in straight enough to be able to handle them both. I will say I think he can get into Wilder’s head and maybe defeat him before they touch gloves. Joshua looks like he will just laugh it off.
drano velvet spewed **** for years that wlad sucked. picked against him every single fight. when he finally lost to a brit, wlad suddenly was at his all time best and an all time great.
I don't know why you think a younger Wlad would have been able to fight on the inside, avoid The Mac's jab, land on a tall fighter with fast feet and head movement, throw body shots to slow down a guy with a great engine, etc. Wlad couldn't lean on The Gypsy King, he had a reach disadvantage and a stamina disadvantage. He literally didn't know what to do as he never developed the tools needed to even compete. I don't see how there's any version of him that could have beaten The Furious One.
I guess you could add Braddick, though there was no shame in his performance against Louis IMO. Honestly I think he was brilliant, Wlad was aging, but not unfoccused like Tyson and Lewis. But he's put his body through quite a bit of abuse, differently people's bodies can handle that more or less, and he seems to be motivated again in coming back unless Douglas was. If he can regain the titles, I don't think he'll hang around long though, I think he'll lose motivation again and retire. I could see "Just how good was Tyson Fury?" being a common topic years down the line.
The big difference is that Wlad was old and shot he was 39 , and Fury did land a few more punches on wlad , than wlad on him. Fury’s win should be rated as high as mcbride’s over tyson. Rahman and douglas beat champions in their prime who underestimated them , that’s all.
Naaaaah. As I've said before, the reasons Wlad got clowned by Fury were because he had massive holes in his game. That version of The Mac would have made a fool out of any version of Wlad.
35yo wlad beats fury 8 times out of 10. He got clowned? Lol he only landed like 20 more punches. Fury is more overrated than that bum Joshua
Fraid not son. Wlad at 35 couldn't fight on the inside at all, didn't throw body shots, had terrible stamina, relied heavily on holding and leaning on smaller men, was incredibly tentative, had no lateral movement, etc. Also at 35 he was still shorter than Fury with a shorter reach and much slower hands and feet. Fury is the much better man and that's just a fact you need to accept. Wlad was very tall and fight in a country that let him foul constantly. All you that called him great then or now are incredibly naive. I don't rate Joshua at all, but he has done more in 20 fights than Wlad did in 40 and has managed to avoid getting destroyed and embarrassed twice in the process.
You're right there mate, caught was the wrong term on my part. I should have said they underestimated their opponent and got beat. The irony immune yanks are out in full force today. Joshua is a PED filled douche with no character. He tried cheating at life to get ahead and now he's cheating at boxing.
