Were you there in the Tyson camp ? So many reports from back then were saying that Tyson wasn't training anywhere near what he use to since Kevin Rooney left him as a trainer..

Tyson was partying hard and by the way, when they're young and do train everyday, even if it's not with the intensity it should be, many fellas will not necessarily gain weight...

Douglas wasn't the better skilled fighter...but he was the only one on a mission that night.

You need to sign out of ESB right now, walk away from the computer and go grab some fresh air. Seriously you are warped if you think Tyson had better skills post Rooney and its well documented that Mike wasn't training properly and was using drugs and alcohol to paper over the cracks in his life at the time of his defeat and for a good while afterward. On the night Douglas was the better man but more skilled than on on form Tyson...? Get outta here!

Your last two posts alone have made you appear even more stupid than Farmboxer and he has almost 20,000 on you! Simply put you are quite obviously mental.

which one is it, either mike tyson wasn't focused or buster douglas would have beaten any heavyweight in the world that night.

It's both, The Douglas of that night would have given any heavyweight in history problems, not that he would have beat them all, but also Tyson was unfocused and undertrained. The prime 1988 version of Tyson would have obviously destroyed Buster and any other heavyweight in history.

It's fanboy statements like these which help ensure that there will always be people who continue to call Tyson overrated. The peak Douglas of that fight is a good quality opponent (he always had the skill, he just needed the conditioning and heart), but don't for one second expand that to him giving any boxer in history problems, when you yourself pointed out that he beat an unfocused and poorly trained Mike. Peak Tyson destroying Douglas is a fair comment, but any other heavyweight in history?; that's ludicrous, there are tough fights out there for any top 10 H2H ATG regardless of lethality.

One of the most blissfully ignorant posts I have ever had the pleasure to read. Really, it gave me a great guffaw. Now, take your head out of your ass and wipe it off a bit. Fact is, Tyson had abandoned his old trainer, Kevin Rooney, who was the one who had carried on the traditions and training methods of Cus D'mato. Both of them knew that Tyson was a small heavyweight who needed to be quicker and move his head a ton if he wanted to win fight. Compare the Tyson vs. Douglas against the Tyson against Holmes, Spinks, Tubbs, etc. Tyson didn't move his head at all in the Douglas fight. Not to mention that fact that he had choosen a bunch of incompetents to run his corner for him. One moron slathered his face in vasilline even though he was allergic to it. Another idiot forgot to bring the endswell, so the geniuses filled a latex gloves with ice water and tried to reduce the swelling....Morons. :D
