I pick Buster because Liston couldn`t cut the ring off on Ali, however Douglas was overcommiting with his jab offering his headd to Tyson who finally caught him wit a counter uppercut, the same could happen v Liston but Tyson had a better uppercut than Sonny.
The best version of Liston, circa 58/59 does almost everything better than Douglas, he had a better jab, Chin, power and speed. Douglas wouldn't be scared however, which could make Liston mad and cause him to make mistakes but I'd still pick him to KO Buster
If Liston turns up on form, then he should be favored, even given the magnitude of Douglas's win over Tyson. Liston was a very intelligent fighter, and he would find a way to break Douglas down. The best version of Tyson also beats Douglas, if not necessarily easily.
Yes he was slower v Ali but he still didn`t move his feet right to cut off the ring, he didn`t seem to know how, he just followed Ali.
Ali was a lot better than Douglas and did add that Liston may have nailed him when he overcomitted with the jab.
A prime Liston would have had more energy as well , to force Douglas . Buster s Chin could be a little fragile at times and other s fairly solid . But up against a prime Liston maybe his good work would be tested .
