So i just watched this rare Heavyweight fight that recently appeared on Youtube, definitely one of the hardest fights i've ever scored. Before i go into the fight i'd like to point out a few key rounds.

Round 1 = Ferguson pretty much controlled most of this round, and stunned Douglas a few times. But Douglas landed his trademark right uppercut with 10 rounds left in the round, and Ferguson was basically out on his feet, and was lucky the punch was right at the end of the round. There's a few different ways you could score this round depending on your criteria, but i thought Douglas's big moment at the end of the round was enough to even the round up, Al Bernstein scored the round for Douglas which i could see also. But i thought Ferguson did too much overall in the round, for Douglas to actually take the round overall.

Round 6 = This round was a polar opposite to the 1st round, Douglas appeared to be in control of this round for the most part. But Ferguson landed a right uppercut of his own and badly stunned Douglas. Now this moment happened with about 50 seconds left in the round ? and Ferguson also finished the round strong. And that was enough for me to Ferguson to take the round overall.

Now just to discuss the fight quickly as a whole, Douglas primarily used the jab and was more active than Ferguson and was able to pin him on the ropes at times. But Ferguson appeared the land the harder punches overall, and had a good steady body attack one of his most effective tactics in this fight was going to the body.

Overall i can't argue with the decision it was such a close fight, and depending on your criteria both fighters had a good case for winning this fight.

Also interesting that if Douglas would've won this fight, it's very possible he could of gone on to fight Mike Tyson. I don't think at this stage in Douglas's career he would've beat Tyson, but it's definitely interesting how a close decision altered boxing history.
