I know many may think this is a silly question but I was watching the old Tyson vs Douglas classic on youtube and after watching Vitali Klitschko's annihilation of Tomasz Adamek earlier I was thinking geez an in shape Douglas would surely do better then Adamek. In the fight against Tyson he boxed a masterpiece using great footwork, flipping multiple jabs and taking some sold shots... So my question is how would a determined in shape James Buster Douglas like the one that fought Tyson do against a Klitschko brother... He has size, faster hands and better footwork. IMO it would be an interesting fight but only if he is as hungry as he was vs Tyson. ">
I watched that recently as well. If all you had to go on was that one fight from Buster Douglas, one might conclude he was an all-time great. He had tons of talent, but only had one night in his life that he put it all together. If you saw the Buster Douglas who beat Tyson (the Buster of that night) fighting as a prospect today, you would say: that guy has a chance against the Kilts. havea look: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTQ7CsEK5DY[/ame]
I agree... A hungry Buster is probably better then anyone other then Lennox Lewis that Vitali has ever fought.
Well, Buster sure did well against Tyson, but remember that Tyson had a 101* fever the day before from a flu virus or some****, and he was going through all sorts of legal troubles with Robin Givens, DK, and basically anyone surrounding him. That said, it was impressive seeing him take those shots from Mighty Mike. I'd give that version of Douglas a 30% chance of TKOing Wlad, and a 10% chance of decisioning or TKO by RTD over Vitali.
Tyson was not right, of course. But if you just watch Buster, ignoring Tyson, the guy just is firing on all cylinders. Laser double jab, good movement, nice right hand.
