Lewis jumps on Douglas early and finishes him inside 2 rounds. No way is Buster going to jab and uppercut Lennox the way he did Tyson.

Lewis ate jabs from Bruno, ate jabs from Mercer. I'd expect he'd eat a lot of jabs from Buster Douglas, who wasn't very good but did have a very good jab.
Lewis's hope is to wait for Douglas to get lazy and then get Douglas like Tucker got him. Lewis has that power to bail himself out, but then again he could be KO'd himself.

In all probability Lennox Lewis beats Buster Douglas and does so emphatically. On a rare evening however, a competitive fight isn't out of the question.

tokyo douglas would take lewis to school.

stiff frank bruno outboxed lewis lol, imagine what would douglas do with his lateral moving, footwork, jab, combos, counters... would make lewis look clumsy and amateurish

It is conceivable that Douglas could win.

Douglas sizes up well, he had good handspeed, excellent footwork, a crunching uppercut, good combos, doubled up on the jab, and threw lead right hands with great precision. He also had the motivation of a bull.

Lewis faced very few technicians throughout his career, partly because there weren't any around. When you look at his resume, the names are stellar, but a lot of those fighters were basic, manufactured jab-right hand type of boxers like Rahman and Bruno, or straight up sluggers like Ruddock or Tua.

Golota and Holyfield were probably the best technical boxers Lewis faced.. Golota froze and Holyfield was a bit too small and old.

Could Douglas win the battle of jabs and take control of the fight? Possible.

Douglas would extend Lennox for sure. I've seen less skilled guys give Lennox trouble over many rounds. But it probably ends up like Tucker-Douglas, maybe earlier, depending on Lennox's aggression, but I don't see Douglas getting blown out. Douglas isn't fighting stupid like Ruddock, scared like Grant, anxiety filled like Golota, small like Botha, wild like Briggs, old like Tucker...

Mediocre in skill and talent? No. Mediocre in desire and ambition? Yes.

Douglas had all the skill you could ask for. When he had an unbreakable will and ambition one night to win , look what he achieved. A complete shut out and stoppage of Mike Tyson.

Tyson 12 years later when utterly shot to bits was a career defining win for Lewis. I believe Lewis even said something to that effect himself.

MaCall couldn't beat Buster over the distance , but when Lewis came along , he put him away with one shot. Partly due too Lennox career long flaw of having low hands.

Buster had great offence and knew the fundamental defensive tactic of bringing your hands back to your chin. I'd also give him credit for having better mobility up top and underrated power.
Tucker would have been banged out by Douglas if his chin was made out of pure steel. Buster was knackered from hitting hit which is why he gassed out and lost.
Lewis is easily jabbale and Buster had a great jab. The right hand follows after the jab and Lewis could be hit. You'd never know. You'd never , ever know.

He fought a great fight. But he was up against a fighter with small reach and a aggressive style. This played into Douglas's hands.
He'd look far less impressive against someone Lewis's size, although he'd still have an advantage due to Lewis's inability to slip his jabs.

I simply do not see how Douglas lasts the distance. I see Lewis blasting him out. Whether it is early or late; it doesn't end well for Douglas. Lewis had height, reach, speed, skill, footwork, could be aggressive or defensive, and he had serious power which he could land from far away or up close.
