Doesn't have a 'good' win? Wait, aren't you the guy who fanatically defends Wilder? LOL. Unorthodox =/= Bad. Learn the difference ******. The only losses in his career were due to an injury and a bad cut, both occasions he was ahead on the cards.. Douglas was blasted out by journeymen and lost to mediocre Ferguson who's career was over before it even begun. You always fanatically pick at earlier losses when they suite the agenda, but when they don't you ignore them completely. Again, you are damn transparent. If we're viewing Douglas' prime career as a whole, he was talented but wildly inconsistent and apart from Tyson almost always came up short against top or elite opponents. LOL! You deal in irrational and soul-consuming hatred, nothing else! You don't ever give the Klitschkos a fair shake on here... You couldn't even entertain the possibility of Wlad chinning Morrison.
Douglas was in shape for Tyson and not in shape at all against Holyfield. Tyson sure didn't look like he was out of shape against Douglas. Tokyo Douglas was a force to be reckoned with. However, Vitali, Vlad, Lewis, etc., were too big, too good, too everything for Douglas, Tyson, Ali, and the others that came before. There needs to be a super heavyweight division.
What's wilder got to do with this? He gets shackled worse than vitali. Stop trailng after me like an over emotional little pansy fanboy. Im here to talk boxing, not to be your agony uncle.
I guarantee you that if Wlad had never fought Leapai, Dino would be the guy picking him over Wlad. He's a running joke here.
He attacked that fight and Klitschko relentlessly, even though it was a mandatory and Klitschko had absolutely no say. He spewed a lot sorts of crap about behind the scenes corruption and K2 securing it as a mandatory behind the scenes, without any sort of proof of course.. This is the guy who has been a big defender of Wilder, although I think he only does it to be contrarian as many of his rivals on here are big critics of Wilder. The guys head is all sorts of messed up.
Vitali was the better fighter. Much bigger too. More consistent. Douglas Tokyo would have chance to win, but he wouldn't be fighting a hungover smaller man like he did with Tyson. Douglas had one night where his heart matched his talent against an opponent who didn't take him seriously. He beat a Young McCall. And was competitive with Tucker. Holyfield ko'd him on a 1 punch counter shot. Gotta go with Vits
to be a great and superfighter you have to be in shape and ready fall all styles, not just one style.. Or one top fighter. Douglas fought great but he was bigger than Tyson for one, and had that advantage. I cannot see him beating many guys, and to be honest when Tyson knocked him down in round 8 he almost quit. He barely made the count. When he was hit or hurt he thought about quitting. I understand that. Most of us would want to quit being hit with a Tyson punch, but an all time great would not want to quit.
True True, but because we only got the chance to see Douglas at his best once, we'll never know how good he really was.
Even "Lucky" (lets be real here) Douglas gets smashed up by Vitali and possibly stopped late.. Chins Vitali>Douglas
The all time greats looked great many times. It was a great win. But one win does not make a great fighter. Had he beat Mike and then Holyfield, he starts to look legitimate.. And then had he beaten Bowe? Ok then. See what I mean? Beat 3 top guys and you are legend status where you can matchup with anyone in history.
This, this, this. Buttwads like Dino do it all the freaking time. "Oh, Douglas beat Tyson and Klitschko lost to Byrd ... PROOF that Douglas would have destroyed him lulz" There's so little respect given to consistency and longevity anymore.
it is true. Douglas gets credit for that Tyson win, but the way lost to Holyfield was rather pathetic. One punch, and he looked at his gloves and quit. He was so close to quitting that Tyson fight.
