my moneys on mathis pretty good chin and boxed well...shavers hit hard but tired late..i think buster would eventually push back a tired earnie shavers by rd 8 or 9 and knock out earnie shavers.

Apart from his last fight against the emerging and Big Hitting Ron Lyle, when Buster had nothing left, he was only stopped one other time, By Joe Frazier...and ol'Smoking had to Hack away at Buster for 10 rounds to set up that 11th round KO, Buster could move well for a big man and absorb a shot, Jerry Quarry outpointed him, but Buster outpointed George Chuvalo, so at his best was something of a stayer...certainly over 10 rounds...
he was a decent breeze of a punch away from a stoppage against Ali in the 11th and 12th rounds of their fight, but did expand some energy exchanging anything-you-can-d0- Dance moves with Ali...they made money..and nobody got hurt...

So being all business with Earnie early, which would encompass movement and smothering, as well as outboxing Earnie...it could, over 12 rounds come down to who succumbs to fatique the most, If Earnie goes for broke early and does not achieve the stoppage, he is probably not likely to do something spectacular late...if he couldnt do it earlky when fresh...albeit he did with big Roy Williams, and rescued a seemingly lost cause against Jeff Sims, I think Buster would not hang his chin out like Roy or Jeff, If Earnie takes a slower route like Howard Smith 1St fight, then i think Buster can stay one one Step ahead...and Hang on over the last two rounds...Buster on Points

it was a good post on your part. Anything could happen in that fight, but you addressed all possibilities and broke the scenario down nicely. Wish more people would do that.. Hell, even I wish I could do it as well as you just did.
