Both big guys who were rarely if ever in ideal shape. Mathis had the better record but probably didn’t fight as many contenders or prospects. Might be fun for a bit
If both are in top shape I'd pick Mathis. When Mathis was around 225-230 lbs and motivated he was a very capable fighter, but unfortunately he couldn't stay consistent with his training or his diet.
Increases my respect for the version of Jerry Quarry who could "take apart Buster Mathis like a Marcedes mechanic.
Broad was good, but he wasn't good enough. If Marvis could win a UD over him (Yes, it was still a competitive fight), then I have no doubt that Mathis could.
