You mean that in your opinion it was the thumb, no camera angle positively confirms that. We can confirm though that it was the punch! You dont know that nobody would get knocke dout in the 7th, again thats just your opinion. This thread is going to be big, that we do know.
the first cut was caused by the thumb, go check highlights, the second and less dangerous cut was caaused by LL huge uppercut.
That sums it up, right there. Lewis planned on three more fights after the Klitschko fight, but after he fought Klitshcko, and realized what he was in with, and that he'd have to rematch him if he continued his career..........he decided it was best to call it a day. That about sums it up. Lewis wasn't too confident in his ability to beat Vitali in a rematch, so he pulled the plug on his career, turned down $40 million, and went back on his word of giving Klitschko the rematch he said he'd give him. And that, is what it all amounted to.
The myth that has to be busted is that Vitali was so upset of the stoppage. First of all, his corner already started to put plaster on his cut - a sign that they themselves know the fight will no longer continue (how the hell are you going to continue with a plaster in your face???). Vitali of course felt the plaster was applied and did not complain himself. He knew the fight is going to be stopped. But when the ref made the announcement, and the camera zooms in on him, that was the cue for him to make his act. So he started jumping up and down, shouting, "NO, NO, NO, NO, NO...." atsch atsch Hypocrisy at its best. atsch
What does that have to do with why Lewis retired and didn't keep good to his word about givng a rematch?
That's true. And then he tried to build a legacy on calling Lewis out every chance he could rather than make even ONE mandatory defense of his title. The guy was a good fighter, but his fans completely overinfalte his ring accomplishments. It's like the fans of the cave man making a big deal about beating Marciano's undefeated streak. The numbers were there, but built on smoke and mirrors.
Actually, cavemen, such as cro magnon men and neanderthals were of smaller stature than modern man, so your comparison of Valuev to a caveman is unfounded, according to the fossil record. Unless, of course, you were refering to his heavy brow and substantial body hair, then in that case, your comparison is a good one. Carry on..........
I totally agree, the fight was close even though I believe Klitschko was winning at that point but it HAD to be stopped or Vitali would be blind today. We all wanted a rematch but it didn't happen so let's move on.
Not just yet. After the fight's possible ending has been discussed to the point of saturation, we can then discuss which fighter loves his mother the most.......
I was speaking in relation to the pop culture depiction of cavemen like in the brilliant 1981 film "Caveman". This content is protected
That was the turning point where their respective careers overlapped. One guy was on way up, the other , down. Lennox (prime) was better than any version of Vitali. But from that night on , Vitali was top dog. Bottom line : Lennox won.
The only myth that was busted was that fights can be easily made on only 2 weeks notice. This was a big heavyweight fight that was made only 2 weeks prior. This should happen in boxing more often.
