But Didn't You Say Pac Was Past Prime?

IMO Pacman is past his prime. He's just such a great fighter that he's still leagues above the majority of the competition at 140 and 147 lbs.

I also believe FLoyd is well past his prime but he's such an elite fighter that he can still wipe the 147 division clean without any problems.

There's a reason these 2 guys are considered the best of this era. They're both on a completely different level from the rest of the fighters between LW and MW.

True, but the problem arises when they want to put Pac back in the ring with Mayweather. And what do we get? A bunch of excuses why Manny loss, him past prime, him hurt shoulder, him running for President, him found God, him got crampy legs, etc...if they must make excuses then no need to fight Floyd, just stay safe and continue to fight Bradley over and over like he been doing!

What excuses? Ellerbe himself said he had inside knowledge that Pacquiao had a terrible camp. Pacquiao was denied a legal shot while Floyd was sitting in his living room with a needle in his arm diluting and masking his doping.

Well those people aren't looking at things objectively. Floyd's style was always poison for Manny. And tbh, Manny is lucky Floyd kinda took it easy on him in their fight. It was actually one of FLoyd's worst performances I had seen in quite sometime. Maybe it was the magnitude of the fight because he looked way too tentative at times. I think if they were to fight again, FLoyd might have a legitimate chance to stop him if he lets his hands go a bit more, especially with his laser-like counterpunching.

And that really puts into perspective how great of a fighter Mayweather is because I couldn't give Manny more than 3 rounds in that fight. And that was in all honesty probably a C level performance from Floyd.

    That wasn't 2009 Pacquiao.

He was tentative because 2 of the 3 or 4 times he tried to initiate action, he got countered BADLY.

And the flipside to that is that wasn't 2009 FLoyd either.

People keep forgetting something with Floyd- he's not an inanimate object in the ring. People start thinking with their hearts how fights will play out against Floyd and think their idol is just going to walk right through him like he's some stationary target to be hit.

That's not who FLoyd is. He's arguably one of the 5 greatest defensive fighters in the history of the sport- right up there with pep, Benitez, WHitaker, and McFarland.

Do you want to know Manny's real issue with Floyd aside from the fact he's always in perpetual motion in the ring? FLoyd's a much smarter fighter than him in general and he holds physical advantages in both the height and reach department. I can't see a fighter beating him who holds a 5 inch reach disadvantage; for a master boxer of FLoyd's ilk, that's giving up way too much.

Now if they were both the same size, that might be a different story. But they're not, so the hypothetical point is moot.

Which is exactly why he was asked to take OST in 2009. Enter 2010 and the monster is gone...coincidence?

A past prime Pacman is still good enough to beat most guys his size.

    But not Floyd.

Only Pacquiao chooses to face opponents he already beat rather than a threatening new challenge. Beating Bradley means nothing
