Boxing attracts the worst kind of excuses and I think that this is probably the worst. There are worse one-offs, from green men to demanding that trainers be granted immortality, but this, in a sport where two athletes compete, is the worst general excuse. Some in an effort to defend it may try to argue that it is used simply to highlight a "fact", but it is almost always used in the spirit of excuse making.

    Discuss and vote.

At least it was original. Besides, excuses are probably fine if you win.

I missed the "wrong socks" excuses. I don't get into threads that go over 10 pages.

I suppose Jameel McCline wins this though, claiming that his trainer deprived him of oxygen.

RJJ had the worse excuses ever. He had this one along with saying that he finds it too hard to get motivated for big fights.

Yeah, that's pretty much as low as it gets. If someone is a PROFESSIONAL boxer, training is part of their job. If they don't do it, and lose - well, the fact that they didn't prepare properly is no excuse.

IMO, I think Roy set the bar for the worse excuse a fighter can have (followed by Pacman with the socks excuse)

Those are the two worst I have ever hear :deal

Boxers need confidence in themselves, some alot of confidence. Excuses are in some cases good, because it says that a fighter hasn't lost that confidence. The best thing that can happen to your favorite fighter if they lose is for them to truly 100% believe their excuse because their mind won't be ****ed up. It's important that their trainer DOESN'T believe the excuse, because one of them has to focus on making adjustments apparantly.

But those two excuses above are complete bull**** :deal
