The worst ones are the ones that are preceded and followed by "take nothing away from my opponent though"

"all credit to my opponent, he fought a good fight but I wasn't really motivated for this fight, my trainer was ****, the climate was too cold so I didn't sweat enough and found it really difficult to drop those last few pounds. As a result I wasn't able to focus on my gameplan. My sparing partner forgot to bring his headgear so I was holding back and couldn't spar properly. During the fight I kept laughing because my opponent was wearing pink gloves. I laughed so hard I got a stich and my opponent did what he had to do. There were also a lot of people wearing pink in the crowd and I couldn't see my opponents punches coming because I couldn't make out his gloves among the pink backdrop. Like I said though, take nothin away from my opponent"

Kind of like De la hoyas camp blaming everything from dehydration to eating Kangaroo and zebra meat and then saying "but pac fought a good fight, all credit to him"

That wasn't an "excuse" - Pavlik didn't come out saying "I lost 'cos I was ill." Hausser reported it and then Loew confirmed it when asked.
