i hate joe calzaghe...i wanna like bute...but everything bute does reminds me of calzaghe...he even looks like him
I liked Bute a lot and believed that he would beat Andrade in a rematch, however, he cannot just shoot up to number one based on this win, whereas before 90% of people had him outside of the top 3. He will get to the top spot eventually imo but let him earn it first. Bute may likely fight the winner of the turney.
Bute was 2nd a year ago, was he not? What did AA do at 168? Oh yeah, he beat a guy who gets destroyed by all legit boxers above 160. Ward? He caught Kessler on a bad day and all of a sudden he's undisputed? Froch? His best win is the same as AA. Pascal was a nobody when they met. Dirrel? Lost to Froch. (Ran well though...)
-Taylor has had a better career than Andrande but I agree for the most part that Bute has done more at 168 than AA -Ward made Kessler day bad -Pascal has gone on to win a belt at 175, Froch has also beaten Reid, Taylor, and Dirrell I'm no Froch fan but that is pretty solid. -Dirrell you can make a case for I have Bute over him.
Bute has always had two very unusual money shots. One is the southpaw version of the left hook to the body and the other is an uppercut to the body. I've seen several of Bute's earlier fights and he has always had these extremely sneaky punches in his repertoire. The fact they are so deadly is that the opponent simply doesn't see them coming cause Bute is southpaw. To take a body shot you have to suck in air and tighten your abs up and crouch into the blow, so you need preparation and foresight to see the punch coming. You have a high chance of getting winded when you get hit with a body shot you don't see coming as was the case with Andrade. Bute would have knocked out or at the very least severely hurt any SMW if he catches them off guard with that blow. Bute is a stylistic nightmare for any1 at SMW. Perhaps only the very adaptable, fast and savvy switch-hitting Ward can beat him. I'd love to see if Ward has the balls to switch southpaw vs Bute.
It's a tough division to rate....all the fighters have resumes that are lacking. I'd put Abraham on top and Ward #2, but after that it's tough. i think Bute clearly has the talent, but Andrade isn't anyone to use as a measuring stick, and who else on his resume can you use. Kessler has dropped since his dismal showing vs Ward, and Froch, despite never having lost, inspires no confidence when he meets a real quality fighter. I will say this..the division will be providing alot of excitement over the next 3 or 4 years as all this gets hashed out in the ring.
I agree even if there is NO Clear cut NUMBER 1 WHO CARES?? The fights that can be made are sensational. So many styles and skill levels that,as you said, will keep this division active over the next 3 or 4 years!!
I did you idiot I'm sure being based out of Montreal had absolutely nothing to do with your obtuseness
Not bad, but still not accurate enough: 1) AA 2) Ward 3) Bute 4) Kessler 5) Froch 6) Dirrel 7) Andrade 8) Bika
Yeahhhhhhh righhtttttttt ! I know you like Ward and I rate Ward's potential above Bute but to say that Bute wouldn't possibly beat anyone but Taylor is just ridiculous or on par with an agenda to willingly downplay the man's talent..
