, with Hearns v. Clavette, so the earliest the Bute v. Andrade fight could start is 45 minutes later, at a quarter to midnight ET/PT (on delay).

So, the time for the start of the card in:

-Mexico City: 5 p.m. on Friday
-US East and West Coast: 11 p.m. Friday night (on delay on the West Coast)
-Britain: 4 a.m. on Saturday morning
-Germany: 5 a.m. on Saturday morning
-Romania: 6 a.m. on Saturday morning
-Moscow: 7 a.m. on Saturday morning
-Philippines: 11 a.m. on Saturday morning
    -Japan: 12 noon on Saturday
-Sydney (AUS): 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon

In the US, the fight is on Showtime; in Canada, it's PPV. The rest of us we'll have to find a stream, I think.

Just curious but why isn't this deserving of a Saturday slot?

Yeah, pretty interesting... but I think it was for Friday anyway, and Showtime just bought the US rights, they are not producing just broadcasting. I guess there are more Friday night boxing shows in Canada...

It is a great fight they made. I am so looking forward to it. Kessler-Haussler is also interesting... mostly to see Kessler because he is a very skilled boxer to watch. I am a connosseour of boxing and I like to watch good boxers. Just like I could enjoy watching Maradona play - no matter which team he played against it was nice to watch.

I like Kessler, Hopkins, RJJ and many of the old champs. Oh, and Mayweather at the lower weights (at the higher weights he has become a little annoying to watch unless you like to watch 3.000 meters steeplechase).

I actually also like Abraham and his skill level is underestimated. He will be difficult to beat I think because he is actually very intelligent in there.

Others prefer Gatti-Ward kind of fights.. I don't. If I wanted all-out and blood and guts - I would put on some MMA. And I do that some times. But the main sport is still boxing because of the highly skilled boxers we still have in the sport.

Yeah...there's a big hockey game on Saturday night, at Bell Centre(where the fight is held), it seems.

The Montreal Canadiens hockey club gets the first bid on the available dates. They pretty much always play at the Bell Centre on saturday. Which mean the best venue in Montreal for boxing is pretty much never available on saturday nights.

I actually forgot that The Canadiens play on Saturday. As a somewhat pseudo Hockey fan, That's pretty embarrassing

I'm just used to those big saturday night boxing fights and this one is certainly a Saturday nighter.

There are available dates sometimes. But Interbox has no advantage to make their boxing cards on a saturday onless they can get US tv.

Otherwise it's better for them to make it on fridays. A lot of people who go to the fights work downtown and simply walk to the Bell Centre after getting off work.

Really looking forward to this one as it will ask a lot of questions of Bute, my bet is he answers them...just.

But a dominant win would be huge for him and will certainly put him in the mix with the big fights 160-175.

In an interview in French, Howard Grant, Andrade's trainer, said Andrade is a different and much improved fighter now compared to how he was in January, when Grant started training him. He warned Bute and everyone else that Andrade will shock everyone tomorrow night.

I hope this doesn't mean that he changed Andrade TOO drastically. While I'd like to see Andrade do good, I kind of hope that they don't do anything that makes him less of his usual self.

Sometimes too many changes too soon can really f*ck up a fighter.

I'm not sure how Andrade can improve.

If he tries to box more. He will get his dominated.

He is good because he puts a crap load of pressure.

I guess they could work on his balance and his punching technique.

    We'll see tomorrow night.

He could be improved without inhibiting his style by, e.g.:

    a. better choice of shots in certain situations, (e.g. better choice of strategy in the feeling-out phase of the fight, at the beginning of rounds and during less active parts of the rounds; better choice of strategy when the fight is kept by his opponent successfully on the outside)
    b. better punching technique, in general
    c. a bit more headmovement when the opponent uses the jab on the outside (Librado Andrade gets hit too much by soft jabs that he could fairly easily avoid and just make him look like a punching bag)
    d. better dosing of effort with more emphasis on effective punching concentrated in larger bundles (more combinations) rather than just a continuous, steady stream of high workrate. (LA tends to throw too many shots that don't land or aren't that effective, making him look bad too)
    e. better balance and footwork as he closes the gap (LA sometimes dives in too much, losing his balance; since he's not that fast, he doesn't achieve that much anyway)
    f. better footwork as he cuts off the corner (LA tends to follow fighters through the ring too much)

...etc. such things might make a significant difference when they're all added up and none of them should inhibit or change his instinctive, high workrate, aggressive and very effective style of fighting.

But, yeah, we'll see tomorrow night.

Andrade: "It's a shame we work so hard just to beat the crap out of each other!"

What a line... Andrade is a supercool dude... how bad that his defensive problems will prevent him to get on the top, such a cool, brave guy... totally different from other dudes... really one of a kind.

He might not be unique, because many fighters, especially Eastern Europeans, just look at it as a job, for example, but he is quite unique for a Mexican American, at least by voicing such sentiments so often and so strongly, when the culture is all about trash-talk and being aggressive.
