    I gotta agree.

There is really no use trying to make this guys fight more skillfully, it isnt his thing. He was blessed with an amazing chin and durability.
Most of the time you try to change a guys style at this stage its to his detriment because you can see he is worried about fighting the way his trainer told him to, not what is natural to him or what is comfortable.

His fundamentals get him by, I do agree some subtle changes wouldnt hurt but more or less Andrade is what he is and he shouldnt change that greatly.

Bull****, except for Kessler and a shot Grant, his records padded.

There's been more than a fair share of humble fighters...I think a lot of Mexican fighters are just extremely prideful and look at it as more than just money.

I do love Librado Andrades brother Enrique Ornelas' reply to the question, "Would you ever fight your brother?" where he said that they beat each other up so much as kids that they might as well do it and get paid for it

What he meant was that he was willing to fight anyone to get a shot at the IBF title, after his loss to Kessler. He beat Mack - not a bad fighter and after that he was willing to fight Bika, in an eliminator. Bika declined the fight because he was offered $125k for it and his wife was heavily pregnant at the time, so he fought two time IBF title challenger Stieglitz in an eliminator to become mandatory challenger. What he meant that he did all he could to get the title shot - it wasn't offered to him on a plate.

Not to mention that he's gone from working at McDonalds (one of those burger joints) to now on the doorstep of a world title fight.

Yeah...pride...fighters like Andrade and Bute don't fight for their pride, but just to give the best they have to make a living. Sure, they're proud of their achievements, but it's not pride that motivates them to win a fight...it's their heart and realisation that they've worked very hard to get there and a loss would put them back a hell of a lot.

There's not some semblance of pride in that? Every fighter has some pride..otherwise they wouldn't fight.

Anywhoo...I'm glad we have guys like Bute and Andrade in boxing. With so many people concerned with playing hero or villain, good guy or bad guy, it's nice to have some real people involved for once.

No...it's not that they're afraid their pride would take a hit if they lost, but instead that after all that hard work they'd have to go back to fighting lesser fighters for much less money and exposure. Many fighters, though, granted, would mainly be hurt by their ego taking a beating: you know, the kind of celebrity fighters who say they're the best and unbeatable etc.

Bute and Andrade are not fighters because they love to fight and beat the other guy. They're fighters because they're good at it and it's their best chance to improve their lot in life and because they enjoy the gym work and don't mind the fighting. If they could do as well by doing a regular physical job or by writing poetry, in the case of Andrade, for example, I'm sure they'd at least consider it.

He'll not have changed much but he will be better, I think:

Grant did indeed say those things. He also said he didn't want to give away his fight-plan or look like someone who was bluffing, but what Andrade said was this: "Avoir un nouvel entraîneur, ça m'a permis d'ajuster de petits détails, a indiqué Andrade. Je vais possiblement être un peu différent dans l'attitude, au niveau de la concentration, mais je ne serai pas un boxeur si différent que ça."

("Having a new trainer allowed me to adjust a couple of small things. I'll have a different attitude and concentrate more, possibly, but I will not be that much of a different boxer.")

Yes, its hard NOT to like him, especially from the speech after the kessler fight.
This fight will let us know where Bute, Kessler AND Andrae stand at 168, should be very interesting.
