It kinda went unnoticed in the old topic so I thought it deserved it's own discussion. A lot of American boxing fans were hoping the fight would be shown in the USA. Well your wish has come true. Nothing official yet but it was leaked in the newspaper yesterday that the most anticipated match up between IBF Super Middleweight Champion, Lucian Bute, and his mandatory challenger, Librado Andrade, will be shown live on Showtime on October 24th. :happy:happy:happy
That must be exciting for Bute fans... good opportunity for him to look good against the limited Andrade.
Man, how is SHO all of a sudden air that much boxing? I thought it was always just about that special first Saturday night of the month - now in October, they will broadcast boxing on a near weekly basis... :huh
They might even broadcast Abraham vs. Marquez on October 4 - tell me how they get such big boost in budget to so?
Don't know about Showtime's budget. But fans like myself have written letters to Showtime commending them on their fight cards. Sometimes it just takes a little feedback form the viewers.
wonder if it's by showing so many great fights recently? though the bars were never packed for the fights so i dont' know.... Oct 24th, looking forward to it, got my tix, hoping for a good undercard (crossing fingers for a diaconu match, but not holding my breath). sadly i also think a very tough andrade UD, but bute has surprised me before - hope he vanquishes again! he does have the speed, and the science, but i don't know if he has enough power to slow andrade down in the later rounds.
The undercard should feature Jean-Francois Bergeron against a legit opponent. I'm hoping for Minto or McCline.
