Mundine might make more sense for Bute, because Pavlik is likely to net more money and certainly more respect as THE 160 champ for the Winner of JC vs MK.

Geeze, when will this "Pavlik is a B level boxer" business end. You can only justify it by making the scale strict - I.E., there are only a handful of A level boxers in the world.

 

You are right about that, but you forgot to mention that he would also be an easier win than Mundine for JC/MK. Pavlik is a perfect risk reward fight compared to Mundine, I guess that is why Calzaghe is in such a hurry to get to fight him.

 

Mundine is equally as easy for Calzaghe. Mundine is very tenative under fire, doesn't have the power to really hurt Joe and mentally falls apart at times. Speed is about the same, Calzaghe could KO him mid rounds, it would be an easy fight.

Pavlik brings more money and American recognition.

C'mon, If Bute beats Mundine? While a JC vs MK faces Pavlik? Does it better prepare him??

I give the JC vs MK Winner top slot at 168 but believe many of those fans are overlooking pavlik a tad. This kid has real power and can box, but?? That happens in the ring and we may well see it.

 

If Jc beats MK? the only fights he'll want will have legacy impact and clearly Pavlik would have that.

Could someone else surface from the pack?, after that point? Or is it up to LHW??

 

I see Mundine-Bute as a toss up.
They are almost equally skilled with a small advantage to Mundine, who has better speed and defense without a doubt. Bute on the other hand has better power and chin. I think it will come down to whether Bute can create respect within the first 3-4 rounds by hitting Mundine with something with some power behind it. This is the only way I can see Bute winning a decision or else he will have to KO Mundine to be able to beat him, and Mundine is much harder to hit cleanly than Berrio.

Very :happy for Bute winning the IBF belt...

Props to him for beating another awkward loose cannon, similar to Bika.

BUT,

A little disturbed at seeing Bute getting roughed up by a much less talented fighter in Berio. Berrio was in there to fight but at times I had the impression Lucian was trying to survive. Actually believe that at times, he wasn't sure what to do so he waited on Berrio and just countered...Would of liked him to jab a whole lot more and dictate the pace of the fight. He also needed to double up on those punches with combos. Imo, he was being overly cautious while a more effective defensive jab would have been more ''pretty''. Some of the hits Bute took tonight were not supposed to reach his chin especially not while you are backing up. A couple of times, Berrio was hurt and I felt Bute waited it out instead of going for the kill. (on a side not, Berrio also seemed to want to trick Bute into believeing he was hurt). Bute seems to lack some ''killer'' agressiveness, which I beleive would of ended this fight much sooner. He really needed to win with a ko, and what a ko it was! All in all, a decent win. Andrade comes to mind for a good sparring partner to work on a few things. Next fight,

It shouldn't be about some stupid (no disrespect but come on) revenge issue, and I doubt that Beyer who has been inactive for over a year and injured for a long part of this period would develop Bute much. The only thing a Beyer fight is good for is to cash in (because of the revenge aspect), but I hope Bute won't turn out to be one of those champions who is satisfied defending his title against opponents who doesn't stand a chance while never taking a chance himself to achieve something bigger.

But I do agree with what you are saying if we look at it from a managers viewpoint. If I was his manager, I would try to get the Beyer fight arranged for certain.

:think I am not sure...Bute would make more money in the long term if he keeps challenging himself against the best, taking risks and putting it all on the line! This is what I would tell him, if I were his manager.
