Beating the bell doesn't count when you can't be saved by the bell in ANY round. Not trying to start an argument or dredge the topic up. Just making a point about the rules.
he didn't say he was up before the bell. He said he was up before the 10count. Therefore he was NOT saved by the bell. Not trying to start an argument or dredge the topic up. Just making a point about the rules.
Someone posted that the WBC had put Taylor back in the top spot? I didn't give it too much credence at the time. Sometimes they don't update the lists on the web site for a long period of time so it could have been 'left overs'. But the alphabets will do what the alphabets do. :nut
Still, he has to be deemed to be able to fight on. The ref did not ask him how he was, or have him step towards him as I recall. If the ref looked in his eyes and decided he couldn't continue, even if he is up by the ten count or the bell has rung, it is a TKO. Beating the count or the bell does not mean you can fight on. That is the criteria as I understand it or else there would be no need for the 'can't be saved in any round' rule. No? I got something wrong here? Quick edit. There were people bitching because Bute didn't fight an immediate rematch with Andrade. A lot of people feel this fight takes precedence. If you think he "bottled it" for taking it, you really aren't paying attention or have an agenda.
IBF rule no 6. The moment he got up the fight wa sover and the timekeeper should have rang the bell. Anyway the ref deemed him ok as he wiped his gloves.
The ref letting a fighter fight on is a judgement call. If the man is on his feet, the ref decides if he can fight or not. I can show you tons of examples where the ref let fighters who looked out of it fight on even though the fight was NOT coming to an end. Bute did beat the count. Going by the rules, nothing wrong happened. Why do you think that beating the count and beating the bell is the same thing? It isn't. In your post you said "Beating the count or the bell does not mean you can fight on. That is the criteria as I understand it or else there would be no need for the 'can't be saved in any round' rule." You can't just lump in beating the count and beating the bell as being the same thing. It isn'T. If the bell rings, and you are still on the canvass, then you still have to beat the count. Thats the point of the rule. If you get knocked down with 1 second left in the round, you still have to beat the count. Bute was up in 8 seconds.
not really. a lot of people still want to see this, including me. bute and adrade still have unfinished business with the controversial ending to their first fight. i like froch and hopes he gets to fight the winner.
Thanks for the clarification guys. Not the first time I've picked up erroneous information because things people said in other threads went unchallenged.
You should past-copy this a couple of time in different post so people get it right!:good I would'nt have known those IBF rules if i never had watch the twelvth round of that fight!
happens to me too much time, but i didn't always have class like you and admit it!:good it's good to see people who prefer love boxing then hating those who make it possible .
