Still the Interbox offer was a lowball. And so low that it didn't lead to further negotiations at this point in time. The fight might still be made though.

I think I in another thread calculated the offer to be close to a 70/30 split in Bute's favour.

tThat's what I'm pointing out. Everybody considers Ward the man(not saying I do but the general opinion) because he beat Kessler. But the wins on Kesslers resume (at the time Ward beat him) aren't much better than the wins on Bute's resume IMO.

But Sauerland didn't use the Steiglitz option to gain negotiation leverage with Interbox, on the contrary. He went straight for Stieglitz. Again, no report of a counteroffer in the two weeks that preceded the WBO updating their rankings.

All we got was a laconic comment from Meyer: ''Bute didn't seem interested in fighting in Denmark'', the operative word being ''seem'' which indicates the Kessler group didn't bother checking for sure.

 

Meyer actually CLEARLY said that Interbox' offer was countered.

 

And Bedard's clearly said it wasn't.

FYI I didn't miss the contradictions in your statements. On one side you say Bute's offer was so low, Kessler didn't bother pursuing negotiations. On the other side, you say the offer was countered. Pretty much describes your body of work concerning Bute.

 

Yes. Sauerland offered 50/50 split. Interbox offer was between 60/40 and 70/30.

1: Interbox offers 70/30 for a fight in Montreal
2: Sauerland counters with 70/30 for a fight in Copenhagen.
3: The end.
