problem is bute's a big draw. because of that it makes him "the man" and the only time a pascal fight happens is when pascal's gruelling run (froch - a loss which raised pascal's standing an dput him on the right path - diaconu, diaconu again, dawson and next year dawson rematch!) comes to an end. that way, pascal is no longer the man, has to come to bute, probably has to come down in weight and drain himself.

but look on the upside. pascal has another big fight to look forward to, the dawson rematch, which plenty of ppl want to see. before that fight, he could fight someone like zsolt erdei (his top contender) or chris henry (marketable due to his tough fight with diaconu, a canadian draw).

meanwhile, bute faces jesse brinkley and jean paul mendy! let's hope HBO don't televise bute's fights until he steps it up. butre has massive potential and i think he shouldhave jumped at the chance to fight pascal. bute could have challenged pascal and if unsuccessful would still have been IBF champ at 168. very disappointing from bute and interbox - small minded and unwilling to take risks.

No son. You get with the times.

The reason Bute isn't in the S6 is because Interbox and Bute basically told Showtime to go **** themselves when the tournament was merely an idea. Interbox and Bute wanted HBOs money and security. They got it. Plans were on the table that included Bute in the S6.

So if you tell somebody to go **** yourself, don't expect an invite for dinner.

Bute not a coward at all. He is looking for a bigger fight than Pascal. Pascal is nothing special he beat an overhyped Chad Dawson who has no power and even with his youth couldnt hurt multiple fighters over 40. Bute is a tad overrated he would beat all the super six guys except one - Arthur Abraham.

If they dont want the fight i´m ok with that
at least they dont ask for some catchweight Pascal cant do effectively or cry about slave contracts, go on vacation for a year all of a sudden or any other shameless disgusting bull**** excuses. Bute should fight Dirrell after Brinkley.

4 days since Pascal's fight and now Bute is a coward for not fighting him? The information available right now is shitty and there is also that rematch clause.

Why do you fools always feel the need to believe the first post/article you read and jump to conclusions? It's all spin.

Bute never told Showtime to go **** themselves. Even Showtime admitted that they did not invited Bute. When they were planning the tournament, they first thought to make it an 8 guys tournament and Bute was one of the boxer listed, when they decided to go for 6, they removed him from the list and he was not invited.

What Bute said on the radio this morning is that he wants to fight the winner of the super 6, and that although he guarantees that he will move up to fight Pascal at 175lbs, he does not want to move up to 175 and then move back down to 168.

So his plan is to fight the winner of the super 6 at 168, and then Pascal at 175

Bute did not say he was too small for Pascal. He openly admitted that the difference in size is negligeable and that he could move up easily but that once he moves up, he will not be able to move back down.

regarding being invited to the super6 he said that when the super 6 started, he was focused on closing the book on Andrade after the controversial ending in the first fight.

All this is coming straight from Bute's mouth this morning.

Also, Showtime has admitted that they did not invite Bute to participate in the tournament.

Yes there is a reason Bute is not in the S6. He was not invited because Ken Hershman decided he would be to expensive, and that came out of Hershman's own mouth. The S6 was NEVER about "the best fighting the best." It was about making money for Showtime, and that meant hiring whoever would work the cheapest. I wish you ****ing S6 nuthuggers would get your facts straight just one time.

KEN HERSHMAN - “Throughout my career, I have been involved with some of the most major and historic events in the sport, including the legendary Corrales vs. Castillo fight which in my opinion is the best fight in history, the Tyson/Holyfield ear biting incident, and the Tyson-Lewis fight. But never have I been more proud then I am of this tournament or prouder of the work we have done. Getting five promoters together is a herculean task in itself -- plus six of the best fighters in the division. That is a staggering accomplishment..

"IBF champion) Lucien Bute was not invited (to participate). He's a great champion but this tournament works. Not one promoter or fighter objected to the first-round draw. They all said ‘put me in front of anyone.’ Each promoter feels their guy is ready to take this tournament.’

"From what I've been told, Showtime has already made a commitment to reserve a september date for a possible Froch - Bute encounter"

    http://www.***********.com/?m=show&id=20195

That last piece was about a month before the S6 tournament was announced. So Bute was considering a fight with Froch on Showtime and Showtime was willing to broadcast that fight... was that before or after he told them to **** themselves?

I dont think Bute is a coward I just think he's getting a overly cocky by beating c+ fighters. His last five fights were against :

    Edison Miranda
    Librado Andrade
    Zuniga
    and Joppy

Bute needs to fight better opponents . I think a fight between Bute and Froch would be nice.:good

Did he say what he plans on doing in the meantime, as the S6 won't be complete until next fall? Will he fight in 2011?
