Thought I'd try to get an idea why the Bute Army think their guy can beat Ward.I have to admit, before the S6 final,I wasn't confident as a Froch fan.I thought of and agreed with some suggested gameplans, but deep down I knew it was a monumental ask.Even allowing for that,Ward had even more than I thought he did.So although I will always support a favoured fighter and won't publicly predict a loss, sometimes you can't ignore the writing on the wall.
I've watched some Bute highlights,I never underestimated him before so I wasn't surprised. He reminds me of young Kessler(not exactly stylistically) because he's very effficient in most areas without being overly exciting. He is technically excellent, and I acknowledge he's still got a lot to prove.
However,I just haven't seen enough to suggest he can beat Ward, but I know I haven't seen as much as his fans and they'll be able to call on more knowledge of him,but I just can't see past Ward against any SMW in the world.
I know every Bute fan will obviously pick him to win,but rather than just blind loyalty, explain how he does it.
Incidentally,I find it a bit strange that some Bute fans are saying Froch will fight anyone, anywhere(or statements to that effect) yet when I joined ESB,there where several threads stating that Froch was ducking Bute and I even saw him (Froch) called a "coward" a few times.Any opinions on this would be welcomed.
I've tried to be balanced here,I would ask that the more militant "soldiers" do the same as I know there are several who will try to give measured,thought-out replies.

And I'm not talking about the current arguments about them not fighting,so please, just discuss the possible fight and not the failed negotiations.

They both got their pros and cons, Bute has faster hands, Ward has faster feet. Both are good technically although Ward has an edge here but Bute has much more power. It's one of those fights that are tough to call and could go either way in my eyes.

It's certainly no walkover, but Ward showed (against Froch) that he had even more than I thought. He really has an all-round game.I don't think there's anyone at SMW that will beat him. He'll have to go up in a year or two because I think that division could go stale once Froch/Ward/Bute have all met.

Perhaps you should word this better.

I have said for about 2 years now I believe Bute is the only fighter with the goods to beat Ward.

But by answering this question honestly am I to be labeled a part of the so called "Bute Army?"

What happened to giving an honest opinion on the fight?

I also don't think prejudgemental bull**** like..

I know every Bute fan will obviously pick him to win,but rather than just blind loyalty, explain how he does it.

is going to generate much intelligent discussion.

That said I don't really give a **** what anybody thinks about me.

I give the edge to Bute because of his accuracy, hand speed, one punch power, and angles. And that uppercut...Great diverse punchers like this are rare and just tough to beat. He isn't a Froch or Kessler, both great fighters in their own right, but one is slow and the other limited and predictable despite great execution. Ward will have to make this very very ugly to get the nod and is going to have to stand up to power that even had a freak like Glen Johnson rocked and hiding in his shell.

I've not seen much of Bute, but it’s going to take one hell of a fighter to beat ward and technically outbox him, All Bute has been doing is hiding in Canada fighting mostly bums, he only has a punchers chance that’s it, i believe ward will go undefeated for a long time.

I was aiming the question at Bute fans.Thought that was quite clear. They're a very loyal bunch and there was no offence meant at all.

I didn't know anything had happened to it.

How is it prejudgemental bull****? The vast majority of fans of any boxer will pick their own fighter in a fight where he has a very live chance.

    Probably just as well.

The last point was well put and just the sort of response I was looking for.Shame about the rest.

I think he can but at even odds I wouldn't bet on it.

    He's a hype job.Go on!

I actually don't think he's a hype job,but couldn't resist.Think he's a very good fighter, but even some of his less blinkered and intelligent fans acknowledge he needs bigger names on his resume. Then we'll all know if he's a real deal.
