Have to say that was my reaction too Tyler. I really don't want to make it Bute v 3G but Bute has had advantages that were not afforded to Golovkin. Let's get a bit of perspective here guys.No need to make Bute the wipping boy here. Plenty of time for that in March.:yep
Proksa is no toilet compared to the majority of the European belt holders, true. But to say Golovkin is the most avoided... :nut Do you realize this big fighter Golovkin drew 500 spectators until his last fight?
It's the first time he fought in USA. :think Are you sure you aren't confusing him with someone else ? Also, I didn't know the number of persons you draw was an increasing function of your quality as a fighter ...
I accept some may take umbrage with my "toilet" reference, but he's horribly overrated and I would at least hope some people would accept he fought a toilet of a fight against 3G.Leaping in with long leads? He looked awful and the truth is many have badly overrated him. I don't know whether I'm coming or going with 3G.On some threads I'm suggesting people need to keep it real and not lose the plot over him and in others I find myself sticking up for him.:huh I know my opinion is of no consequence to the vast majority but for the record,I think 3G is a very entertaining fighter who will be a good addition to televised boxing. He has a great box office-friendly style and could do very well indeed. But he has a poor defence and a clever fighter with a good jab and countering ability could wreak havoc with him.I think when Martinez and Chavez are out the picture 3G stands a good chance with most MWs. Let's enjoy him and keep it real at the same time.:grouphug
I am not confusing but it wasn't in the US, right. In some **** hotels in Germany or Central America, whatever. I watch many fights. Trust me I saw horrible EBU champs. The EBU championship was respectable even in the 30s or 40s but not today anymore. Golovkin is attractive for the public but a fight against Martinez or Chavez would kill his legend, story. Maybe he should also avoid Geale, Sturm, Quillin and even Pirog and to enjoy his time. N'Jikam and Mundine are just perfect for him.
Even a Dirrell with his weak mentality would not wait the end and give him a late stoppage. But from Bute, Golovkin gets sleep in maximum 6 rounds. :hi: You talk of maybe not Hall of Famers but first hand opponents. Martinez is even better than Bute in this moment and Pac-Man is legend.
Andrade was at almost the same lvl of recognition as Froch was prior to the Bute fight. Just because you didn't payed attention to this division then doesn't mean Andrade was always as shot as he is now. Remember he back then considered a high work-rate, high pressure punching absorption machine. Terminator-like... taking "the shots" and never really stop coming forward. To compare: Froch was #3 after Ward and Bute Andrade was #3 after Kessler and Bute Froch was outclassed by #1 Ward prior to this fight Andrade was outclassed by #1 Kessler prior to that fight Froch had 2 losses due to higher competition encountered . Andrade had 1 loss only to the best in the division at that time.
