Don't know why my thread was deleted but Bute on Froch Ward He has watched former foe Carl Frochs progression to the top of the sport. He seems to be getting better every fight. He seems very confident in his own strengths. I think at 168lbs he can beat anybody at this moment. Maybe even the last man to defeat Froch, Americas excellent Andre Ward. Bute said, Two years with no fight [Ward fought once in 2013 and once in 2012], I dont know whats happened with him. Froch is active, in good shape, a very strong guy, very confident. Its a different Froch now to when he lost to Andre Ward. Will Froch ever face Ward again or does he retire never attempting to avenge his loss ? :bbb
He should just take cue from Khan and get a new trainer say he's better would of never lost as his new self and avoid Ward then retire... Seriously if he is to beat Ward he has to boss him and be aggressive and take shots to give shots. He has done it in the past but that Froch like against Pascal and Taylor he showed his pure will can be unreal but then look at Ward and first Groves fight and he is timid like a cat pawing at a ball. Not to mention he's a damn basket case who needs a counselor to make him feel confident. Yea probably in Wards favor. I really don't even want Ward to take the fight and I know he has to go back out and re prove himself but doing this at LHW after beating GGG would be epic even though people will say GGG never fought anybody afterwards like Frochs win over Bute.
Who should get a new trainer Froch ? What McKrackin has done with him is pretty amazing ...But for him to beat Ward he will also have to work on his inside game that's why Ward was able to beat him in their fight ..He was in his wheel house and Froch couldn't do anything about it .The que's he should take is from Bowe with regards to fighting on the inside like he did when he fought Evander ..When Ward comes in he needs to shorten up his punches and make Ward think twice about staying so close then across can work to his range ..
Froch's last 5 performances have undoubtedly instilled a level of confidence that we've never seen from him(and he has never been short on confidence), but I still don't see what would be so different. Ward has successfully come back from long layoffs before and I don't believe that would be a factor.
His inactivity and how Froch has got better makes the rematch very intriguing ..Ward will always be the better boxer but you can't measure the Cobra's determination ..
It must also be noted that Froch's on the downslide of his career. He's a good fighter, but he's won't fights on toughness and his opponent's fragility recently. He still can't move very well on his feet and he can't fight well on the inside. You can't train footwork and it's too late for him to learn inside fighting. Ward's footspeed and ability to get inside/outside quickly is what troubles Froch the most.
Froch was better 3 years ago than he is now. While the same may be true for Ward, the difference between them when they did fight was so vast that it's tough to see a scenario where Froch can be viewed as being a favorite of any kind...
Froch has improved due to experience, so he has more knowledge than he had before but he isn't any faster, he doesn't have an inside game really and overall he is a better boxer but his boxing style hasn't changed. Its a Ward win.
i'm having déjà vu! froch probably had the best 2 performances of his career post s6 v bute and groves 2, while ward has had major surgery and only 1 fight in years, but i still lean towards the latter. it'll never happen, though, because of the odd career decisions ward has made.
Ward has been out of competitive ring action for well over a year. He hasn't fought a meanginful opponent in over two years. I think a number fighters could beat him now. He needs a tune up or two.
Froch at this stage would still have no chance at Ward. The athletic guys, Dirrell brothers, Degale, only guys at SMW that would have a shot at it and they'd all still be up against it.
Ward didn't look too great in his last fight well over a year ago. A guy doesn't spend this much time out of ring and not lose something, even Ray Leonard was never the same in his comebacks.
