I personally would love to see this take place. Don't expect Bute to have such an easy time against Ol'Man Bernard

Let Hopkins make his money. The Jones fight hurt him a little - but he still has the name to sell fights.

OK. So what will the S6 participants do after the tournament is over? Beat a 67 years old Hopkins? Have rematches between them 'till the end of their career? After they leave the tournament they'll beg for a match with Chad and Bute. If Bute may hear them, I doubt Chad will pick one if he's not the winner of the S6 or, worst case, a runner up.
IMO in one year from now Bute will have a lot to chose from, which won't be the case for Kessler for example. He will pick Bute's leftovers or some 16-3-1 prospect who won't look that great on his resume and will never bring him back on the top.
I really want to see your face when the S6'ers will ask Brinkley for a fight, even if he won't be mandatory.

This is a good fight for both guys. Neither one have a lot of options that come close to fighting each other. Hopkins couldn't get Calzaghe again and Pavlik probably wants to ease into 68 or 75 leaving Bute with someone like Bika again.

Bute should be a solid favortie but Hopkins is still a good fighter but he's clearly slowing down. I like this fight fromt he Bute standpoint because if he beats Hopkins then that makes him a top threat to Dawson at 175. If Dawson and Bute both win their fights then Dawson-Bute becomes an even bigger fight. And it beats Bute sitting around beating up the Jesse Brinkley's of the world while he waits for the Super Six guys.

what is it about my point that seems to have incensed you. all i said is that bute's resume isn't going to get better whilst the super 6 is going on. and thats ****ing true, because other then bute who are the other decent super middles (bika maybe). i didn't say **** about chad dawson either so the **** that you bring up is neither here nor there. and i find it hard to believe that any of the super 6ers will fight hopkins (because i believe that he will be either retired or a completely laughable prospect as an opponent at that time).

If history tells us anything about BHop, it tells us Bernard Hopkins pulls wins out of his ass when he is not suppose to.

If you think Old Man River is shot just because he looked less than stellar against Ornales and Jones, I will politely disagree. The #1 reason Hops was a big underdog against KP was that he looked old and shot against Calzaghe.

Lucian has a good chance because he has fast hands and hits like a truck, but no one should pick Bute based on the theory that Bernard is shot. He's not.

Don't see Hopkins winning this one and I'm a big fan of his. I'm a fan of Bute but still, Bute is NO Canadian Kelly Pavlik. Hopkins is in for the fight of his life and Bute is in for most likely a win he won't look spectacular in. But if Hopkins beats Bute.....only if.....it would be an upset in my opinion a huge one. Bute doesn't really use his footwork from what I've seen from him but he throws good combinations and should give Hopkins LOTS of problems. Even at Hopkins' current age it's still a pick em fight.

Hopkins is far from finished and if he wants to challenge Bute, that tells me he sees some glaring weakness in Bute. I would never rule Hopkins out, even at this stage, though... it's clear to me who will be the underdog.

    Should be.

Problem is, i'll count Hopkins out only when he's 60.

Hell Hopkins landed flush on prime Roy Jones a few times. But back to what you were saying, Trinidad was suppose to beat Hops so he could've fought RJJ earlier but it didn't happen. Tarver & Pavlik were suppose to beat Hopkins too......didn't happen. Hopkins will have to dig in deep to win against Bute though because Lucian doesn't seem like a one-dimensional fighter at all. Then again, Hopkins is crafty maybe he has more in the tank than we think because he came back after losing to Taylor twice and after losing to Calzaghe. Maybe he devised a plan to look bad against Jones in the rematch so he can look great in his next fight. Not like he's the kind of person not to do a such thing.

I'm a Bute fan. I like the kid. But let's cut to the chase here. In the first Andrade fight Librado cost himself a world title by not following the refs instructions. Lucian looked good in the 2nd fight, and he was impressive against Pavlik's left overs. None of that should make him the favorite over Bernard freaking Hopkins. This is a 50/50 fight. I'd probably root for Bute, but in some dark-twisted corner of my heart I'd be secretly pulling for Hops. He is -- after all --- Bernard Hopkins:hey
