Bute: "I hope Andrade beats Tsypko!"; "I hope to fight Kessler in Spring 2010!"

You're wrong to be sceptical. Bute said he wasn't ready for Kessler after Berrio, late 2007. He said he hoped he'd be ready next year. Late 2008, he said he thought he was ready for Kessler, and that he wanted to fight him - and this despite of his unconvincing performance against Andrade. Obviously, Bute couldn't fight Kessler before fighting Andrade, and he fought Andrade as early as possible, late 2008. So...he couldn't fight Kessler earlier than 2009. We all know what happened with Bute v. Larsen - which was going to hype the Kessler v. Bute fight. We all know that Mikkel has trouble with Palle and still doesn't have a fight on. I don't think we can blame Bute for the fight not happening. No one is to blame, not even Palle. They've started negotiating and there's a long way to go. Bute NEEDS to beat Andrade before the fight can happen. Kessler needs to get his mandatory out of the way too. It's just the way things are. Kessler will fight Larsen because he had to and then his mandatory, because he has to...and since he doesn't fight 3 times a year, we're looking at 2010 for Kessler at the earliest. Not Bute's fault. Not Kessler's fault. Not Palle's fault. Just the way things are.

 

Technically, his mandatory should be fought by the 24th of July. I am not sure, though, whether he wouldn't be allowed, according to the rules, to squeeze in a fight before July, as long as he starts negotiations for his very fight, against his mandatory challenger, before the 24th of July. There might be some liniency here too...the IBF might be more legitimate these days than the other bodies, but that doesn't mean they never bend the rules a bit. In any case, I'm not sure Andrade would be ready for Bute for a fight by the 24th of July, if he fights Tsypko on the 4th of April, though he just might be.

If it were up to me, I would have Bute fight Andrade before the 24th of July, as per the 9 months rule.

As to Froch, if he wins the WBC, he'll have to fight another mandatory before being allowed to unify...as I wrote in my last post. If he wins that one too, Kessler will probably get to fight him, and then Bute's out of the equation for early to mid 2010, because Kessler v. Froch could not happen earlier than early/mid 2010.

If Taylor wins, he's a better option for both Bute and Kessler, BUT...Taylor would rather defend against Dirrell and Ward, say, then fight Bute or Kessler...so they might just have to fight each other anyway, as I wrote in my previous post.

 

It might not happen for all sorts of reasons, but DON'T point the finger at Bute, as you've done so far in the thread. You have no reason to do so.

 

I think so too. I don't think there will be a fight in between Zuniga and Andrade, unless Bute stops Zuniga early and they can get Lacy.

 

Bute never calls out anyone, you know that. Bute should be talked about because he's a big player at smw, especially since he said he was ready and eager to fight Kessler. No need for Bute to send emails. The fact that Bute is not the preferred option for Kessler/Palle is not Bute's fault, so I am not sure why you point the finger at him. And the fact that Bute has business to take care of before he can fight Kessler should make you see why there's no point in him calling out Kessler in the first place. In other words, you make no sense at all. Sorry.:deal
