http://www.boxinginsider.com/headlines/interview-with-lucian-bute-and-trainer-stephan-larouche/ Bute's Trainer about Kessler: "He left. Running. Apparently he was running going to the airport!" Boxing Insider: Now can you share with me anything that’s going on with the next opponent? Now that Carl Froch has been elevated to a mandatory by the IBF, how does that play into everything? Who do you see Lucian fighting next? Stéphan Larouche: “Well to be honest with you, I know that Carl Froch is the mandatory, and we were pleased about it for two reasons: First of all, he’s a credible opponent, and second of all he deserves it. He deserves more than a lot of fighters so hopefully he will be our next opponent in our very next fight, either in Montreal or in England if we need to go to England. There’s one thing that is truth, and that’s that Carl Froch has been the guy in the Super Six that had been the most game one, you know?” Boxing Insider: Right. Stéphan Larouche: “He’s been traveling fighting everyone everywhere. As far as the USA, he came to fight Jermain Taylor. So, if there’s one thing that we have to give to Carl Froch is he was away from home, and we respect that. He’s a true warrior, that’s the reason why Lucian would love to fight him in the very next fight. I think that you know, styles make fights, and Froch is a tough, durable guy. Very strong, and always in great condition. These are all the ingredients to give Lucian a good fight.” And I would say that Mikkel Kessler is also a guy that, before we became a champion, Kessler was already there. Lucian was at one of his fights, when he fought Markus Beyer and Lucian was not even the champion yet…and he was real impressed. We know that Dirrell talks a lot, but he is a runner. He is not a crowd-pleaser, he doesn’t fight at all. He’s just a runner. And I think that it’s going to be hard for him to sell any tickets and also get the attention of great television. But we would rather fight Froch, because he also beat Dirrell. So we’d rather fight the guy that beat the guy. He beat Pascal. He beat Dirrell. And he lost only against good guys. Read the rest on that link.
Me knows. But the Promotion was done all wrong. He may also say that we dont deserve to fight him yet, which we could agree with. We just want to fight the best, thats all were trying to do. So saying that Ward is not available for any reason; and Kessler came to Montreal to see Lucian fight against Magee, and apparently almost missed his plane! The thing is, I dont know why he came to Montreal. He came ringside, where we provided him a great seat to see Lucian from close, close sight and I think he didnt like what he was seeing. I disagree with Larouche when he said they could agree with the view that Bute doesn't deserve to fight Ward yet, unless he means, the risk/reward is all wrong from Ward's point of view at this stage, and even then, I think he's wrong. Granted, the fight would be a lot bigger if Bute were to beat Froch and Kessler first.
I want Bute-Froch more, so I don't care. But I'm afraid Ward will duck him much longer than 1 fight, at least 2 until he starts feeling the pressure from the fans same way Bute is feeling the pressure now.
Bute is feeling the pressure but only because a lot of people still think he has a great claim to be No1 but needs to back it up. Still, when you consider that he'd be very lucky to have Froch fight him in the first place, I'm not sure the pressure is at all justified, with Ward and Kessler "deciding to pass" a fight against him.
The pressure is justified, he needs to give his fans exciting fights. Ward, Froch, Kessler, Dirrell, even Pavlik. Keep talking and they would not avoid you forever. He needs to do everything in his power to get some of those guys.
It takes two to tango. He definitely needs to give us exciting fans against Ward, Kessler, Froch or Andre Dirrell, in that order.
Lucian Bute: “I would love to go as far as I can as a Super Middleweight, fighting everybody there, unify the belts…and then move up to 175…”
Interbox tried to lowball him, but i want Kessler to either get a rematch with Ward or fight the winner of Froch-Bute. Kessler has accomplished far more than Bute has.. and a better resume.
I just wish Froch would **** or get off the pot already. Bute could line up Dre, even in Detroit if necessary for the April date. Froch could then put his hope in Ward to vacate. And if Froch should get Tony in a vacant WBC fight, then Bute could get Showtime or HBO aboard for the unification bout, home or away. Lord knows Bute aint getting younger and he's gonna have to move up next yr, so most of us Bute fans are dying to see him get 3 more fights at this weight.....Kessler, Froch, Dirrel(either), Ward, Steiglitz, and Abraham. Any combo of 3 before this time next yr would cement him as the #1 SMW before his move to LHW.:deal
