he looks done. might as well fight froch and cash out, its either that or some bum will finish him off soon anyways
Good fighter but thats it,was protected over in Canada, not fighting the best in the division while somehow convincing everyone he was the best after Ward,Froch stops him easy again..
so did I, they kept telling me Bute was the special one when I tried to argue i was told "you dont know **** about boxing"
It's a good job Grachev was several pounds under his true weight class. Whatever happened to the Bute fan boy, Decebal ? Has he hung himself since May?
I'm a Froch fan and I like Bute enough as a man to never want him to be in a ring with Carl again. At this point it does nothing for Froch, it's beginning to look like Bute wasn't quite as good as people thought and he's had his soul taken away by the Cobra.
Hey, buddy! Did you miss me?:smooch Yeah, I agree that Bute looked very poor. B- level performance last night. Did you watch the fight last night? Bute looked poor especially in the 5th. Thought Grachev was going to knock him out at one point in that round. Bute got outjabbed and outboxed in quite a few rounds by Grachev, who seems to be a decent fighter, but not better than B- level... perhaps he is a little better... who knows? Biggest disappointment for me is to see that Bute hasn't changed his flawed strategy from the Froch fight. Same defensive holes...etc., and now he has taken to trading against a fighter who isn't even proven world class, just to survive! Positives? A few small ones. Bute seemed a little bit more confortable on the inside and against the ropes, clinching and escaping from the ropes. At times it felt as if he was preparing for the Froch fight by willingly putting himself in certain situations. If he had fought Froch last night, yeah, he'd have been stopped again, probably earlier than in the first fight. Unfortunately, Bute also seems to have lost a lot of confidence and come down a level. Not the fighter he once was, in many significant ways. Grachev is the first opponent who managed to win more than 2-3 rounds against Bute (except for Froch). It was a close fight and Bute didn't dominate him by any means. I think that says a lot more about this current version of Bute than about Grachev.
Grachev was not a big light heavy anyway, and he's a real solid pressure fighter, I said beforehand it was a bad move for Bute's comeback fight but one I respected because he wasn't a soft touch. I've not watched it yet but were the scores wide? From what I've read Grachev gave Bute a going over in a few of the rounds.
I think B- performance is generous. Bute looked woeful last night, do you want him to have another tune up before the Froch re-match?
I have a tonne of respect for Froch but I think he got too much credit for the Bute win. Bute looked like a shot fighter from the first bell in that fight. All he did was step back until he was on the ropes and never let his hands go - that's a sure fire way to get KTFO! Don't forget that B level Andrade basically stopped him too.
Bute looked really ordinary in the first 6 rounds and simply seemed to have an almost Audley-eqsue fear of getting hit. He was even looking in a bit of trouble in round 4 or 5 I think? I think the Froch fight really zapped his confidence to take a shot. In the second half of the fight Bute eased ahead on the scorecard without looking great. In the last 2 rounds when he knew he wasn't going to be KO'd, his confidence returned and in the last round he looked sensational. But there was nothing to see that would change the outcome if Froch and Bute rematch. The crowd atmosphere would work in Bute's favour I guess, but that's about it.
